And so it begins...wedding guest dress
Comments (150)Just checking back in here. You've been busy. I love the RL dress on you too. I suspect the other is also really flattering, but that the overexposure of the lighting on the pic and maybe the pic angle makes it not as enticing as the RL. Either one would be perfect. Are you in the mood for silvery/pewter shoes? I just bought these at Dillards (amazing selection I'll add) to wear this weekend as stepmom of Bride. They are comfy enough for me to wear and still act as hostess at this wedding. By J Renee and pretty affordable. I'm a lot taller than you, but have the same figure issues, ie shapely ample tush and bustline. For this "black tie optional" wedding all the bridesmaids will be in long dresses as will I. I ended up buying a dress in the salon the day we went wedding dress shopping, at Sweet Elegance in Atlanta where they were absolutely wonderful. And I went with a mock wrap - silver, beaded. Still haven't decided on jewelry. sigh. Wedding is in three days. (why do they picture a 20-something in a dress meant for MOB?) I made my dresses for my two sons weddings, but making it this time was going to be a logistical nightmare. Have a wonderful time at your barn wedding....See MoreWedding shopping want to help make a list
Comments (33)I had a very simple (ie cheap) wedding. I sent out about 100 invites and 100-130 attended. I didn't do RSVP because I really didn't care who came. I had a set amount to spend on the reception food so if we ran out I figured they could just go to any of the many fast food places near the church. The wedding was for me (Eric would have been fine with running off to Vagas) so I didn't worry about what others thought or anything. LOL That said. I had little favors. I bought small clear tube thingies at Party City, I think they were 25 or 30 cents each (in 2000). At that time, Hershey had the HUGS version of the kisses. I made little stickers on the computer and used decorative scissors to cut them to the right size and make them prettier. The messages had "Hugs and kisses from the Mr. and Mrs.". I was industrious and made them way in advance (a bonus of using chocolate!). The night before, my maid of honor informed me that I used the wrong Hersheys!!! I had kisses and almonds. I didn't change them and no one else ever noticed (or mentioned it!). I also refused to make bird seed bags- I had made WAY too many (I was the last in my circle to get married). I bought two plastic bird baths the season before when they were on clearance. I think I paid about $10/each. I had extra flowers from making the bouquets and window decorations (I cannot be around live flowers so they were all artificial). I used the flowers and ivy to decorate the edges of the bird baths and placed them by the reception doors. Right before we left, someone filled the bird baths (too many little boys around to do it ahead of time, LOL). Everyone grabbed a handful as they lined up. After we left, there was no netting or ribbons to clean up so my family was happy!...See MoreHey Ya'll Wedding Guest Dress Opinions
Comments (53)Thanks for finding the butterfly dress Cindy! Funky, maybe you saw the dress from Anthro? It’s kind of similar? Yeah, I’m kind of thinking I need to wait to pull the trigger until I see some new spring dresses. Amy, that mod cloth dress is so pretty, but a little too short for my liking. Bonnie, I think that dress is a little different? And I’m not sure about a dress that’s only $22! I can’t imagine that it’s made with even a little bit of quality. Oh Lake, I totally forgot about Peruvian Conn. Love the dress with the bold stripes. I’m putting that one in my maybe file. Thanks Mtn! The house is doing well. It’s a semi-custom and we moved in about 10 months ago - how time flies! We’re really pleased with it and the house/property are much smaller and more manageable with time and money. Plus, I’ve gone back to school which, so far, is and absolute blast. Wish I had done this long ago! Just, no doesn’t have to be floral. Those dresses are much too short. I’m really going for midi to maxi. I’m 5’7” so maxi dresses look pretty good on me and I’m not interested in showing too much leg. Sue, yes maybe too casual and too short. Jill, that’s kind of what I want - something that’s a hint of dressy but can be worn casually as well. dyh - UO is tough! Very young and very skinny girl dresses! I wish! I don’t know how I missed the Anthro dresses. The beaded wrap and the butterfly are perfect! I think the tulips are just too big of a print and too busy for anything but a waif. Love Free People but nothing is speaking to me....See MoreDo you have a funeral outfit?
Comments (31)Thank you @maddielee, @morz8 - Washington Coast, @Feathers11, and @Annie Deighnaugh for your condolences. It means so much to have a kind virtual group of friends to help me at this time. The last two dresses fit really well, better than the first I think. The middle dress is a bit more formal and the latter is a little more casual. I'm leaning towards wearing the last dress since it is a little more casual and as recommended, works a little better with the booties It's a Norma Kamali dress. I may end up keeping the middle dress too since it fits really well and seems like a good staple since I'm clearly lacking non-sleeveless dresses. The first and middle are both Calvin Klein. Thank you everyone for your help in this time. I think I need to build out my closet with a few more staples so that in the future I won't feel so panicked trying to find something appropriate to wear. My professional life has become so casual (first working for a very casual company and now working from home for that company) that my closet has really fallen into very casual territory. Combine that with weight changes and maturing in age and I think I need to do a little investment in my closet again....See Morebossyvossy
