I would suggest painting your window trim white to match baseboards, crown molding & doors. It does not have to be the same in every room. As long as you have a place to end the paint, you are fine to change colors! Good luck with your project!

You can do whichever you prefer. I had dark stained pine trim in my 70's home and painted it white, though my paneled interior door and most cabinetry is stained. I like the white trim with wood look, but it works best with paneled doors rather than hollow core doors.

You can have it different in different rooms - many really old homes are that way. My grandmother's craftsman had wood stain in the living and dining room, but her kitchen was white trim and the bedroom trim was painted to match a color in the wallpaper:)

When I painted my trim i started with the kitchen and eventually did the whole main level. Later I painted the trim in the bedrooms. You can take your time over it.

If you like the wood trim - and I've seen many newer homes with wood trim - then stain the window to match. Practice on a pieces of similar wood type to get the right stain. Stain an inconspicuous area first to see if you have a good match.

I really like my white trim in the dining and living room. It seems like the light coming in the windows is more bright and less yellow. But, my mother has wood trim and also a bright house, though her trim is lighter in color than yours.
