As the bed is quite tight to the house, shrubs will need to hang over the front of the wall in order to have room enough to develop a proper size. Hanging over will look fine, though. At the left corner, a groundcover or low trailing shrub could look nice. Below the windows the shrubs should be something easy to keep at 3' ht. The heavenly bamboo is not going to look nice below the window. It would be best if you find another location for it where it could grow to natural size. It would be better to have dome shaped shrubs below the windows. Seasonal color could go at either side of the stoop and whatever you have growing at the right side now could be used to fill in the leftover spaces.

That looks a lot like a Camellia (maybe C. sasanqua?) to me. Has it ever bloomed? It may not that far south. If that's what it is, it's evergreen and doesn't get huge, maybe 10-12 feet. I'd find out for sure before I take them out. They don't have invasive roots, so they won't hurt the foundation or grow up into the house. Even if they don't ever bloom, they are beautiful evergreen shrubs. I'm not good at landscaping, so I have no other recommendations.

Good gravy about the metal frame, i call for a saws all and just buck it back to the wall if you cant get the bolts out. lol. ponies need lots of sun, or they wont give you enough flowers to make it worth their while. So I'm not sure if they will work for you here. you probably get some morning sun in the front but im not sure. Paint your front door black is no good for your cute house. As to the shutters I would just remove them. Instead of white trim I might fancy a sage green or leave it as is once you remove the shutters white will be too plain IMO. Does anyone have any suggestions?” Jean, on Sunday 12/30, Yardvaark made a request for a set of photos taken closer in from just inside the yard, from one spot opposite the front door, that spans across the whole yard from one side bound to the other. Can you add that so we see the whole span of the front yard? Landscaping isn’t just in front of the house and this photo is a bit too far away for useful landscaping suggestions. For instance, is there a bed between the house and the steps to the left of the door and if so, how deep is it front to back? How is the drive positioned?
