Have you seen the LC bloom? That could be a nice "blue". Yes, LC and Cattleya want the same amount of sun. Ease them out into a bit more, especially morning and afternoon, shade them from too much in the middle part of the day. You are looking for a "rusty, or brownish" green leaf color, not the dark lush green. Do it slowly, don't want to burn them, and with that dark lush green color that won't be hard to do. Feeding, half the recommended strength about twice a month while plants are in active growth. While dormant, you can shift to a balanced (10-10-10), or just stop feeding. Some Cattleya types will not go dormant. If they have spring and fall blooming ancestors they may bloom twice a year, and then as soon as blooms go away, new growth is starting. Good growing. Bill

I am aware that some ebay sellers sell KQ as a "rare" Hoya. But I was not talking about them. Those sellers are the ones I called "some not so good ones" in the above comment. Gardino Nursery doesn't call common Hoyas "rare". Yes, I am new to Hoya. But I learned enough to know what species are common or rare. It's not that hard to find that out. For example, I would say H. fitchii is not a common Hoya. You don't find them in the Big Box stores, and only few vendors in the US sell them if they have one in stock, which is not often at all. Another one, H. aff. thomsonii EPC-215, I would call this one rare. I got both of these Hoyas from Gardino on ebay. And I'll say it again, Gardino sells some fabulous rare Hoyas on ebay. People are not as stupid as you appear to think.

No, it's not a combo. It's one plant, that I divided into two smaller, more manageable ones. I've owned it over twenty years. Plus, the bright red tubular flowers it had the first year tells me it probably isn't a philodendron. But I hear you, if you look at Lipstick plant leaves, they're spaced closer. These have gradually "stretched out" and increased in size over these many years. Here's a photo of the 'sister' plant (the one I got when I separated the two)

ship and plant in dormancy ... avoid severe stress/shock ... in re the period the roots stop working due to planting .... no fresh growth to support ... though planting in the cold//cool spring.. the stresses arent that bad..relatively speaking .... what was said about new growth hardening up ... those things will flick off with ease ... like putting them in or taking them out of a box ... dont forget about hardening off .... i wouldnt go sticking them in the ground without such a period ... not to mention.. fresh growth would take even longer to harden off ... they arent going to like some near zero freeze event in MN .... [after sprouting in the pnw] ...... and thats possible into late april or may ...i would leave them outdoors ... but perhaps tuck them in the garage or some such ... if some extreme cold snap came ... ignore snow ... its an insulator.. its simply not an issue imo ... in my MI .... i aimed for april planting .... its getting pretty mild by then.. in tree terms ... i would insist to be done planting by 5/1 ... giving the plants 6 to 8 weeks for the roots to settle before the heat of summer might hit ... though if stuff happens . in my MI ... i have a second proper planting time in sept/oct [perhaps in my MI ... another period of near dormancy.. when the plants are slowing down toward such ]... i dont know if that extends to your area ... i wonder what junkie might think of that ... i think its a midwest thing ... i am very surprised about what dave says about the PNW .... but he surely should know ... its not like he is some piker... lol ... i am well aware... all advice is regional ... especially in regard to knowing when the heat of summer is going to hit ...
