Our tile problem (pics) -- please weigh in!
Comments (11)fern, I contacted that place and they basically said they wouldn't be interested in selling me any tile. (!) You know, to vent a bit, this is making me less happy with the bath place we are using. I don't know why I have to run around trying to figure out what kind of tile I need and where to get it. Anyway, this is what I bought today (tiles, .90 each; I bought a dozen): Side view: My plan is to paint these (sand first, use primer, etc.). Then the tile person can cut them to fit. Does this have any chance of working?...See MoreConverting Single sink vanity to Double sink vanity
Comments (1)If the horizontal center to center distance between the two sink drain openings does not exceed 30" you may combine the two into one common 1-1/2" trap in the same manner as connecting a kitchen double sink. If the distance is greater than 30" you will be required to have a separate trap and waste arm for each sink....See MoreHow can I convert a double sink vanity into a single sink vanity?
Comments (4)It shouldn't be a big deal, but you would have to first remove the old vanity and then open up the wall and do some re-plumbing. You would cap off one drain and one set of hot and cold pipes in the wall. Then you would need to route the other drain and set of hot and cold pipes laterally within the stud space so they would be in the center; this might require notching out one stud, depending on where things are located. Which set of pipes you would choose to cap off might depend on where things were in the wall in relation to the studs: it's possible that one side might be easier to re-route to the center than the other, or one side might be a shorter run to the drain. It's hard to say before you open the wall, but that's the general idea. Once you re-did the plumbing and repaired the sheet rock, you would be ready to install the new vanity. Oh, and if you don't have shutoff valves under the sinks, use this as an opportunity to install a set on the pair of supply lines you will be using. Hope that helps. Feel free to re-post if any of this is vague, or once the wall is open....See MoreHelp: Ikea Godmorgon Vanity, Sink & Non-Ikea Faucet
Comments (3)Don‘t quote me on this, but I think that when Errant_gw said you would need to use the IKEA drain, it was because the Kohler drain must not be compatible with the sink (European vs US). If that is the case, then no, you won’t be able to use the faucet lever. The IKEA drain must be a pop-up drain - you push it down to seal and push down again to release. Does that make sense? For more replies, you might wish to start a new post rather than posting under this old one....See More
