We have 8 of my wife's family arriving today and staying through the weekend. And just this morning I ran a load of laundry in the new upstairs laundry room and something wasn't quite connected right, and water went all over the floor and was dripping through the ceiling into the living room below.

There will be at least 16 of us and we will have it at youngest daughter's. I fix most of the food, othes help with what they want to bring. Our meal will be at 2 on Sunday.

Church, which is my favorite service of the year. Such a wonderful holiday if one is a Christian. (Of course I realize that not all are and that not all who are christian in name are practicing). For me, it is very special. Then we will be going out to dinner. Looking forward to it very much.

My husband has to work until 3 pm so dinner will be at 5. Just the 5 of us and my two adult sons. I'll do the cooking. Ham, whipped potatoes, Brussel sprouts, corn, deviled eggs, candied sweet potatoes, rolls. I have to decide on dessert and I think I'll make cranberry sauce. I'm hoping for a nice dry day so the boys can go outside awhile and swing the ball bat with their dad. They do plan on a few games of chess with their dad which means they will spend all evening at the chess board. Lol No big plans, just family time my favorite.

Meeting brother and his family at a restaurant. He and his grandson's birthdays are in March so we will be celebrating both Easter and birthdays.

DH is getting an MRI at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. Isn't that weird? we will be having Lamb for dinner.

We are going to our daughter’s house. There will be about 20 of us. We all take foods and help with the candy for the egg hunt. I bought a ham and took it to her. I always try to help with the finance part. It can get so expensive to host things like this. I just appreciate the girls taking over. A couple neighbors join in with the egg hunt for their grandkids. They help supply candy and eggs. Everyone is great to do their part. We always have a great time.. We all go to our own churches in the morning and then join up around noon.

Will be going to daughters for the traditional Easter ham and trimmings to feed just 8 family members this year. I will be allowed in only if I bring the usual pickled eggs and beets and pineapple casserole (Glenda's recipe) that everyone loves. Daughter tells me that every year. Pickled the eggs and beets on Tuesday, so the color will be all the way through to the yolks, just like we all like them.

• • i have made all these, except the dessert, before, so I hope it all comes together as planned. I’m still recovering from back surgery last month so I really hope to pull it off. I have already done a lot ahead and froze what I could. They all freeze very well.

Back in my working days, since I don't celebrate this day, I'd volunteer to go into work to do what needed to be done for research, so that others could celebrate and not have to come in.

I am retired now, and I do miss being able to pop up and say, Yeah, I'll go in to do such and such in our research lab.

I did cook a lamb shank with Easter appetites in mind, for my food blog.

Our church is doing a Tenebrae cantata Friday night. I sing (sort of) in the choir. I'm off tomorrow, so I need to get caught up in some outdoor projects that have been waiting for decent weather.

Easter morning I'm playing trumpet in church. For Easter dinner, I'm going to sous vide a (very expensive) rack of lamb. No company; just the two of us. I'm not sure yet about the go-withs other than a nice bottle of wine.

Well we were both looking forward to having tomorrow off (Good Friday).Today was the second day of our twice-weekly stint at the chemo unit. (8 hr days). Blood work, and then phosphorous infusions. After today's blood work, his phosphorous still isn't improving, so we're at the hospital again tomorrow. What a downer.

Jasdip, so sorry to hear that you and Mr. are dealing with this. Those long days must be exhausting for both of you. Hope that there will be a turn for the best soon. Take care of each other.

We declined an invitation to a family dinner in Toronto. This year we're keeping it quiet and simple at home. I plan on spending Saturday/Sunday in my pajamas.

I thought I would go to Easter sunrise service, but doubt if I go sit outside if it is 28 degrees although it is always beautiful seeing the sun come up if the weather is nice. So I will probably go to the regular Easter church service. Then if it is not snowing/icing, I will go to my DD's in KC for dinner.

We were invited to an Easter party....mostly for children and those with them or grands, by my neighbor down the road....bring a covered dish and they would have fried chicken and hot dogs, etc. But I have so much to do here at home....still packing...and I declined the invitation.

Well, Mother Nature put a snag in our plans.......DD#3 and DS both just called that they cannot come as we are having a lot of new snow and much more predicted for tomorrow. I'm glad they are not going out on the road. I'm still expecting DD#6 and SIL between storms!

I have work too, hopefully it won't be too slow because I'll get sleepy if it is.

Dinner will be turkey with all the trimmings. For dessert it will be a caramelized upside down apple cake & homemade cho. pudding for me.

Thanks for the good wishes for hubby. The levels aren't coming up, even with the bolos (as they're called), and taking 2,000 mg of sodium phosphate pills, and drinking Coke. (coke and processed foods are loaded with it).

His body isn't absorbing it. Hopefully it will wake up, and start taking it in like it should.

Elmer, there have been many conversations, not sharing the personal facts. Just know, he isn't happy but is under control. There is nothing we can do about it. He is an adult, needs to make his own decisions. Very disappointed that he won't stand up for himself.

We are having my family over, 20 in all. I love every minute of it. Not the prior cleaning though LOL. Young ones will have an Easter egg hunt, which may be inside this year since it suppose to rain. All lots of food and fellowship.

While we are not Greek, we love Greek food. Was going to prepare a Greek Leg of Lamb, but since there were only supposed to be two of us we decided on Greek-style pork chops. After it is too late, found out today there will be four of us, but keeping the same menu of:

Greek Style Pork Chops with Tzatziki Sauce

1 tablespoons red wine vinegar

1 teaspoon dried oregano

2 teaspoons olive oil, divided

1 1/2 teaspoons freshly minced garlic, divided

1/4 t salt

4 boneless pork loin chops about 1/2” thick

1 tablespoons red wine vinegar

6 ounces plain fat free Greek style yogurt

1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill

1 tablespoon shredded cucumber

Splash of lemon juice to taste

1/8 t salt

Combine 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar, 1 teaspoon dried
oregano, 1 teaspoon olive oil, and 1 teaspoon freshly minced garlic in a
zip-top plastic bag or other container designed to marinate the pork chops. Add
pork to bag, and seal. Marinate for at least 20 minutes at room temperature,
turning after 10 minutes.

Combine remaining 1 tablespoon vinegar, 1 teaspoon olive
oil, 6 ounces yogurt, 1 tablespoon dill, 1 tablespoon shredded cucumber, 1/2
teaspoon freshly minced garlic, a little bit of lemon juice and 1/8 teaspoon
salt, stirring well with a whisk to make the Tzatziki Sauce. Give it a taste
and adjust the flavors as needed. Cover and chill.

Heat a Grill Pan over mid-high heat (375 degrees F). Coat
pan with cooking spray. Remove pork from bag, and discard marinade. Sprinkle
both sides of pork evenly with 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add pork to pan, and cook for
3-4 minutes on each side or until instant read thermometer registers 140
degrees F. Remove pork from pan, and let stand for 5-10 minutes. Enjoy with the Tzatziki sauce! Yield: 4 Servings

Two of the family members who were supposed to come couldn't make it, so we are 8 total instead of 10 total. Last night I made a large tortellini and shrimp dish for everyone, with red bell pepper, sugar snap peas, sauteed mushrooms. and grape tomatoes.

Today a brother-in-law is in charge of the cooking and is making roast leg of lamb, and several side dishes mashed potatoes, asparagus, creamy cannellini beans, buffalo-spiced cauliflower, and a simple salad. He has already started cooking and the kitchen smells wonderful,

I will have Mom, daughter and her boyfriend and a cousin. Other daughter living in Texas by herself. Hard to get used to, but I am thankful for the family I do have! Already tired from cleaning and cooking. All may have to eat and run, if snow and ice storm show up. And yet I saw so many people out today buying spring clothes and sandals! We may be wearing boots tomorrow. ; )

I told hubby that I would make potato salad and bake a ham if we could go out and eat crawfish tonight.

@walnutcreek - The pork chops were really good. The recipe is definitely a keeper. I always have tzatziki from our local deli in the fridge so I didn't even have to make it which it made it really easy. I marinated the meat for about an hour. Thank-you for posting it.

Our high temp today is predicted to be 44 F, I may sit outside for a bit this afternoon. I'm really liking that most of the snow is melting away!

I love tzatziki! I make my own usually, as any place that sells it (and makes it well) is not near enough to me. Oooo, and I want me some crawfish!!!!

The ham is in the crock pot, the squash casserole is in the other crock pot. I have sweet potatoes and baked beans yet to make which are easy peasy. I baked the biscuits yesterday. Then just some appetizers...fresh veggies, dip, cheese, crackers, nuts. I did get the carrot cake from costco (only 2 left!) and I bought some madeleines which I love. The rest, the family can fill in as they wish.

My gift to myself is to not make myself crazy over these get togethers as I usually do. I'm going to take it easy, be calm and enjoy it -- like all my guests get to do too!

This crazy weather changed my plans...so did not travel to DD's, but went to church and then 7 other widows that were staying in town went to the Country Club for lunch and visiting...now am home in comfy clothes warming up!

The weather is beautiful here (SC) today. It started out around 40, but is the low 70's now. Just perfect for porch settin' and grillin' a rack of lamb.

The kids have come and gone--brunch. Hubby had to go to work so it feels a bit lonely, especially as I can't call my mom anymore. It's nice to have all of you to "chat" with.

I ended not getting any packing done....maybe will get in a little tonight. I told a friend to come over and bring a trailer. She has a shop, and I gave her a trailer load of furniture and interesting junk for her shop. She will have to come back a couple of times to get all of it.

Ahh, the family has come and gone. Lasagna, salad, garlic bread. Chocolate chip cookie for a birthday, and key lime pie. All easy peasy, used disposable plates and forks. I had to put a few cooking utensils in the dishwasher, and put the tablecloths in the washer. All done. Fun to get together, and an excuse to get my house cleaned up.

Last nights meal was great, although too large. Everyone has left after this mornings blueberry pancake brunch, and tonight, following the suggestion of my sister-in-law I'm using some of the leftover lamb and mashed potatoes to make a Shepard's Pie.
