Hello Nicole thanks for your response I live in New Jersey And this winter doesn’t want to leave we are in April and the weather is still in the 40 the only day that it was nice was last Friday I have them in my dining room table we’re the sun hits a few hours a day but I am confused because I don’t know if I put to much fertilizer on it or it needs more I only add water when the moisture meter is between moist and dry so it around every two days I hope I did not hurt the roots when I check the moisture on the soil with the two sticks that are in the middle of the meter almost all the leaves including the new ones cumin out the tips are brown I don’t know what to do can you tell me if you can how to measure how much fertilizer to add on a 6” pot once the weather gets nice I will plant on the ground I got two musa rajoo and one tiny tiny and buy the water your banana tree are looking great can you tell me what fertilizer number are you using I am used 5-5-5 thanks again for all your help

Hi guys! I’ve had this plant for a few months now, I think it is possibly a Jade, but I am new to succulents so I’m not sure It looks discoloured and spotty, could someone help tell me what’s wrong with it?

If there are any healthy roots, I would start watering. If plants root ball is wet, wait few days. If dry, you can start watering after a day - waiting just enough for any possible cuts to heal. You don't want any live roots to dry up. I am not familiar with EB soil. Personally, I prefer inorganic mixes. I would likely add lots of perlite (or pumice if available) to the bagged C&S soil as they in general do not dry fast enough. You want to avoid water retention, or it could end up in similar situation as you already experienced. You could check your soil by using bamboo skewer or chopstick or even pencil: insert it deep into pot (at least 3/4 deep) and leave for couple of min. Take it out and see/feel - if dry, time to water. If damp or feeling cold, wait bit longer before watering again. Shoots may take a while to grow so hat may not bebest way to judge. I can't remember exactly, but it may have been between 8-12 mo for new growth to appear (from the roots, circled in photo I posted ). Try not to take it out of mix to see if roots are growing :) After about a mo, gently tug on plant - if you feel any resistance, roots are growing and anchoring the plant. But maybe best is just t let it be...watched pot never boils :):):) Btw, I found thread I mentioned in my previous post; it deals with growing/propagating gasteria from leaves. But I think you'll find lots of great info there, and great photos. Look at the potting mixes ppl are using - mostly quite gritty, that provides great drainage. Notice that it took bit over a year to get lots of offsets, so patience is required.-CLICK HERE PLEASE - And perhaps some are faster growers than others. I’ve killed more succulents than I’d like to admit. Hundreds of dollars rotted or burnt to a crisp. Nonetheless, I am happy to report that I had maybe one loss this past year? I’ve learned to ignore the overall rules and adapt to what works for my succulents in my environment. I started out with succulents by ordering about $200 worth of sempervivums “hens and chicks”. For starters, they advertised echeverias on their pictures but I didn’t know the difference at the time. All I knew is that I loved the look and that nothing would grow on the south side of my house because of the intense heat. My semps came with instructions hardy to zone 9, plant in full sun. I lovingly did so along with two trays of sedum and they did very well for maybe two months until we started getting heat waves in May. It only took one day for them to burn to the point where they almost fell apart. And that was my first massacre. I finally learned to trust my gut after visiting my aunt who waters her succulents every two days, keeps them in part shade, doesn’t protect them from frost or heat and I realized she broke every single rule yet had the biggest most gorgeous succulents I had ever seen. So with time, I’ve learned what works and what doesn’t and I feel more confident in buying the more expensive succulents because mostly everything stays alive now. The one piece of advice that has always worked for me and I think it works for almost anyone is if you have any doubts on whether to water or not, then don’t water. It’s easier to kill from overwatering than underwatering. but anyway, sorry for the rambling. I kinda just wanted to say don’t give up and don’t be afraid to fail a few times.
