Living Room w/ front door in middle opening to long wall
I need help! I'm not sure what is the best way to rearrange my furniture/add furniture... I don't want everyone to see my TV right when you walk in the door. We tried arranging the couch perpendicular to the door with the coffee table in front of that and the TV in front of that against the long wall, but there wasn't enough room! (also TV seen right when you walk in) The pictures below are how it's been set up since we moved all the current furniture in. Not much... lol The room is pretty long and skinny. There is also a doorway leading into the dining area and another leading into the hallway we have to work around.

Comments (10)The room is really nicely done. A chair in that space would work. Maybe a small piece of furniture that has double function near entrance. I also have corner fireplace - a very tricky space & the only place for the TV is next to it. I get the fact of competing focal points etc, but you also have to live in your home. I had my tv in an armoire so it could be closed off when not in use but the armoire was big & bulky and designer Candace Olsen once said for people to stop trying to hide TV's. Comments (12)Chess-yeah that's me - yes, that is exactly right! the owners dad built it about 70 years ago. Jamie Ludwig - I posted some additional photos that did not seem to upload before Saypoint - Was thinking I can't do seating on either side of the door because on one side you have fireplace and the other side is the entryway to the other room. We tried the sofa facing the fireplace but it did not seem to work well as it felt like you walked into the sofa when you came in. Comments (3)I love the balance the existing door brings to your space. You could perhaps work around the furniture placement issue by floating some of the furniture pieces, rather than having them all along the walls. If you post pics we could help....See More

6 years agoHave you tried the sofa on the long wall and the TV on the wall where the mirror is leaning? It might work on the wall left of the front door. Your TV may just be too large for this room. Here's a chart so you can decide.
