Best mid-range slide-in 30' gas (or dual fuel)?
Comments (19)I come on here about 1to3 times a week and rarely post anything. When I do it is in response to what I know about which at this point is gas stoves because I spent a year researching them. I usually mention NXR's because very few people know about them, in fact less than a year ago I had never heard of one either but fortunately saw a few owners of NXR's on this website that got me interested in them. There are no NXR showrooms near me either, there are several along the East Coast and several on the West coast. My wife & I were going to Florida to visit friends and I thought I would check to see if there was a place to see, touch, feel, slam and bang an NXR stove along the way. We found a place in Tampa Florida, was about a 2 hour detour for us but decided to stop by and check it out, glad we did because we were sold as soon as we saw it. The place we bought it from said they have sold quite a few over the years and have never had one come back. He then opened the oven door and stood on it with his full weight, probably about 190-200# just show how well built the stove was. We bought one from them because they had as good a price as any we had found anywhere ($1799.00). I can basically guarantee the NXR is better than the 3 you listed but I fully understand not wanting to buy something sight unseen, we didn't....See Morebest 30" slide in gas range?
Comments (14)thanks so much for your valuable input :) I would have not known what you meant about the countertop until last week when I stopped in a Lowes and one of the woman sales persons there told me that I had to realize there would be a space in the back because they don't butt up against the wall. I think she said the best way to go was have the countertop guys add a wood ledge of some type to go to the wall, then make a removable piece of quartz the same as the countertops that can easily be removed or changed if we ever had to replace the range in the future, the extra piece could be adjusted smaller to fit even a range being 1 inch deeper. Otherwise if it was one continuous piece across whole cabinet bank, then we would be limited years later with the size range, or be forced to replace the countertop. I think we are buying Silestones Lagoon Quarts that has the look of off white marble. As for the size pans that fit say on the right side both front and back burners at the same time, I'm having the same problem with my freestanding :) Guess I can't get away from that on either choice :))...See MoreHelp selecting the best 30" gas range
Comments (40)So do you run a home nursery and going to have small, under 5 year old children in your house for decades that are not yours? So possible lawsuit situation, in which case I would just close off the kitchen completely. I seriously doubt there is any difference between an NXR door verse a Verona door. Most people simply make way too big a deal about this oven door temp thing. My guess would be like for about the past 250,000 years of human existence that if the child touches something hot they wont do it again. Also most burns that happen in the kitchen come from hot WATER/Liquids or from an "Open" oven door not the outside of a door. If you think you are going to child proof a kitchen you are dreaming, that would be like child proofing the middle lane of the freeway. Best thing is to keep them OUT of the kitchen altogether. I mean even our 2 year old Chihuahua has a chair that she sits on at the edge of our kitchen so she can see everything we are doing but stay safely out our way so she doesn't get stepped on or something dropped on her etc. Took us about 2 days to train her to go right to her chair and stay there. Lets hope that most children are at least as intelligent as a 2 year old Chihuahua. I was checking ours out last night again, my wife turned on the oven to 400 to preheat it and we went out to pick something up, so when we got back the oven was ready to go to bake some bread to go with the sketti. So it was pre-heating and being used at 400 for about 2 hours. I placed my hand on the glass and it was "warm" at best probably just over body temp so about 100, just below the glass was even cooler, less than body temp. The only parts of the door that were remotely hot was the crack between the door and kick plate and the very top edge of the door both areas are actually hard to reach. The handle was actually room temp at best so around 70ish degrees. I have a feeling that ADCO states this because NXR simply says what the oven door could possibly ever get to if left on 500 or maybe broil for hours on end, it could probably reach 150 on the top edge of the door....See More30" GE Profile gas slide-in vs. Jenn-Air 30" gas slide-in
Comments (1)I am not sure why you are getting zero response to your question. I too am having a difficult time deciding between two brands. My request for advice wasn't answered either. So without the benefit of others sharing their experience the best way to decide is probably side by side comparison. List the pros and cons of each as you see them and perhaps one will stand out more than the other. I don't have gas but I do have a GE convection wall oven and a GE cooktop. The cooktop has had to have the elements replaced three times in the 8 years I have owned it. The convection oven has had fan issues from the get go. First the fan in the oven started sounding loud and was fixed. Now it has noise coming from an internal fan and you'd think a plane was landing in the kitchen. So, Jenn Air, with it's extra features may be worth the extra expense if it holds up better than the GE. I'd check their repair history. Good luck with your remodel and enjoy your new kitchen!...See Moremihelene
