The two couches don't go together. The first is very traditional and the second is very modern. If you choose the modern one then the other items will go with it. Nothing will go with the traditional couch, because every other piece is modern so there is no way you make make this space eclectic. I don't care for the carpet; it looks cold and industrial. Frankly I don't care for the couch with the wild colors either, but my style is English country house so you can see the problem. I'm always surprised that people in cold countries have sleek modern furniture and thin rugs in colors that are not the least warm and cozy. If you kept the first sofa and added a large Oriental rug and comfortable arm chairs in a floral pattern that would be traditional but I doubt that's what you're looking for. Eclectic style is very difficult to pull off, although it would look eclectic if you combine the traditional furniture I describe with modern paintings and a few other modern touches.

I doubt there is any way to make these pieces cohesive. Ditto what Ingrid said about the yellow couch being too traditional. Can you return any of them?

Hi Ingrid - I do agree that yellow sofa is the problem and we don't really wanna part ways with it just yet .We have had that for 8 years now...I really appreciate the insight. Thank you!

Hi Lisa that yellow couch was the only one that we already have . The rest are new :D. I think I just have to wait it out until the sofa is unusable. Do you have something in mind that would be nice to replace it?? Thanks!

This feels like an episode of Iron Chef. Here are wildly disparate ingredients, only a genius cook will know how to put them together into a tasty dish.

I am no genius decorator. If you remove the red chair and the carpet and obviously the yellow sofa, then you have items that all work together. Perhaps you could find a throw pillow with chalky pink and grey for the red Ikea chair to tie it into the sofa.

I cannot see how the blue of the carpet or the country cottage sofa can possibly coexist with these pieces. Not even a slipcover will solve the sofa problem. It will look like you picked up off the curb next to the aggressively modern sofa.

Good luck with your project. Challenges like this can bring out a lot of creativity.

Isn't that sofa Ikea ektorp? I would get a new cream slipcover. For some reason the light beige is only $29. All the rest are $149. It's a great deal. Hopefully you can get a similar bargain in Sweden.

If you cover the sofa, red chair is the odd man out. The rug is a close second. Eclectic is a cohesive mix of different styles. Right now your colors will never be cohesive.

Is there a possibility that you are color blind? The rug is green and would appear gray to someone who is color blind. I do not mean this to be flippant. My DH is very color blind and it is a struggle.

It is just furniture vinaigrette from IKEA. I would get a picture of living room that you like and then follow it design.

Are you going to put some furniture on balcony? May be blue small sofa?

Did you plan to put one rug in the 'internal balcony' and one rug in the LR? And furniture on the balcony? If so, I'd put the yellow couch on the balcony and the black lounger too, if it will fit. A lounger is ideal for a balcony. I'd put the other couch and red chair in the LR, placing the black ottoman so it could be easily accessed from either. The rugs look blue on my monitor, and I'd probably try to pull it all together with accent pieces in the colors seen in the rug, along with lots of plants, art, appropriate collectibles, etc.

I'm having a difficult time imagining an apartment that as room for two large sofas. Could you possibly put one in storage and rotate them if you love them both and can't part with them? If I had to, I'd slipcover the yellow couch or the other one to make it stand out less, live with something slightly anachronistic, and call it a day.

I would love to decorate the balcony with my old ektorp (yellow) sofa but that space will be used probably 3-4 months max in a year =) . So I will just put some old dinning set there and a cheap 2 seater sofa.
