Would you remove these outlets altogether or is that crazy thinking?
Comments (65)Autumn, looking at your picture I have a question. Was more foam applied after this picture was taken? If not, there should be room in the stud bay to fish in a wire plus add a shallow depth box for 'old work' (it attaches to the drywall, not the stud). It appears (not clear) that the wiring comes from below, and if reachable you could disconnect the wire to that left box and retire it in place (remove the receptacle and patch over). The new outlet would need to be within 24" of the stove, so if that fits the larger studbay under the window, so much the better. The same is true for the right side in that the receptacle needs to be within 24" of the stove rather than 4' from the wall. This might be in that narrow studbay, but that would be up to you. BTW: that 4 foot rule applies to continuous counters. Interruptions by sinks, ranges or cooktops makes the counter discontinuous and measurements start over. The exception is if there is at least 12" BEHIND the interruption (think bar sink)....See MoreCan a window remove req. that a kitchen have a vent/fan? (WA state)
Comments (6)I live in WA state and until my most recent residence, never had a kitchen with any stove vent or fan. In fact, my first purchased home (lived there 25 years) did not even have a kitchen window that opened. Maybe for new construction this is a requirement but it is certainly not a requirement for older (10+ years) homes. At least no home inspector felt necessary to remark on it. btw, can't say as I ever missed having one......most don't work worth c##p!...See MoreRemove kitchen window???
Comments (4)you can install non operable window. You can install a hood in front of a non operable window. You can install reduced depth cabinets and/or "cut back" [diagonal] cabinets up to doorway trim to use those distances between doors, and so forth. You don't mention ventilation for your range....best to think about it. Ditto what Colwell says....post your room dimensions....See MoreHow would you remove this pony wall?
Comments (4)How will one keep the pony away from the table without the wall? Yes I'd take it apart layer by layer, Maybe put some hardboard over the hardwood on each side for a working surface to protect the hardwood. Maybe the tile will come with the drywall....See Moremama goose_gw zn6OH
