Thank you Bill. The Laticrete grout color our tile contractor is wanting to use is the "Marble Beige". That color is close to the darkest color in the tile. But there's not that much of that color so I'm afraid it would really stand out. I'm leaning toward blending with the "Sauterne". Everything else is either too brown or gray. Good to know we won't have discoloration or mold issues. Any recommendation on a cleaning product for our travertine? The travertine will be in our shower, knee walls and bathroom floor. He wants to wrap the knee walls completely with the tile instead of it just being in the shower and top of the knee wall. The knee walls are 41" high on each end of the vanity. Do you think this will look good? My plan is for possibly a very light quartz countertop on the espresso vanity. It's hard for me to envision.

I am in the process of installing a heavy relief mural in the back splash area above the cook top. The mural is surrounded by subway tiles. I set the mural and the subway tile and am in the process of testing Laticrete Pro Premium epoxy grout in white. To test I set a bunch of subway tile on a piece of Hardiebacker and then floated in the grout. Floating the grout was simple. Clean up was simple too. I am waiting a day to see if the color is a good match for the mural and subway tiles. So far it looks perfect. Hopefully, the color will remain consistent as it cures. I will post a follow up and report on the color issue.

For what it's worth...........I've done the SW $5 quart in other brands too. Is it the same? Well, I think that if you are completely set on having the absolutely positively exactly the same not even a hairsbreadth of difference in shade right color...........then, no........mixing in another brand to test the quart will not 100% be accurate. And even from gallon to gallon, when you have your paint mixed, the experts say there can be a tiny smidgeon of difference. That's why they recommend mixing some of your gallons in a larger container to paint. And here's what I say....If you painted a wall in Ben Moore's Concord Ivory and went back to finish it in a match by Sherwin Wms........you will have a problem. It will look almost the same, but the difference will be visible. If you painted the wall in BM Concord Ivory and went back to 'touch up' a spot you nicked with a chair, but you use a special BM quart that you bought just for touchups, you may even have a slight difference. However, if you are thinking that a quart of paint mixed to try will give you a WAY big difference from how that paint will look on your walls...........then, no. It is going to look like your test quart. And even a $5 test qt. from SW will probably tell you what you need to know if you really put that paint on the wall...........don't skimp. Use it up. Red

I'm glad Cinar interiors answered the question. We had this happen with some very dark grout, it ended up lighter than expected. My hubby doesn't know if it was too much water, or our hard water, probably both... but it didn't happen to the section of grout we mixed with the bottles of stuff that is supposed to prevent stains. For what it's worth, we were able to get the stain pens to paint the grout to the color we had originally wanted and it has been holding up very well for about a couple of years now. (We had gone with a dark charcoal grout to match our tile, the places we used the grout that had been mixed with water... mixed and not measured, ahem... had turned up splotchy and looked mostly light grey until we painted the grout.)
