Epoxy grout vs. grout shield
Comments (18)First, no mixing, so no color variations. Epoxy needs mixing also...and is messy. Any leftover can be re-sealed and used for another project later on. No sealer needed. Good color. I've seen white used on a test board... two hours later, splashed mustard, wine and coffee over it and wiped up clean with a damp sponge. A little learning curve for application~ Do small areas at a time. Fill joints well. Slightly dampen tiles before application. Using a WELL wrung out sponge, clean the area in a circular motion within a minute or so of application. I like to use either a microfibre-backed sponge or a sponge with a well wrung out microfibre cloth wrapped around it to make single passes over the area within a couple of minutes. Go on to the next area. An hour or two later, just buff off any haze with a dry or almost dry microfibre towel. Two people working together make it go very easy....although one can do it. Remove any rings and wear some disposable gloves....Fusion Pro loves skin, as well! Once done, you should never need to do anything else to it other than general cleaning....See MoreLaticrete Mushroom Grout or Laticrete Antique White Grout Pics
Comments (5)Weedyacres, I wish you would visit me and I would hire you to install my tires! You did such a great job getting a 1/16th grout width despite the tiles not being rectified. I love how you designed your foyer also since I found that again by doing a Yahoo Search. If I had someone here to cut the tiles, I would be willing to try to install them after watching the installers that did my two small foyer tile floors. I am afraid of cutting equipment. I had a wood-shop class when I was in 8th grade years ago and I was scared every time I had to use cutting saw. I made a simple shelf. I did poorly in my sewing class also due to problems threading the machine and not seeing the hole that good. But I did well in my calculus class and my science classes. I wish I was handier. So far the only thing I did OK at was gel staining my cabinets but I still do not like them and now want them changed. Yes, you and your new husband made a great team and you both are so blessed you found each other. Thanks again for sharing....See MoreGrout color much lighter then sample. Dye or ?
Comments (38)I laid new porcelain tiles in March 2010, the grout color I selected was Tumbleweed but the color turned gray & white. It looked terrible & I was in a panic as to what to do. Of course the installer was not any help & said that it was the color I selected or the grout must have been old. Some of the grout got in the crevices of the tile & is the correct color so I do not know what went wrong. I researched on the computer & found C-Cure grout stain. I went to a local tile store & purchased C-Cure in Tumbleweed. You can not purchase this stain at Lowes or Home Depot only tile stores. This stain is assume!!! I stained the bathroom, hallway and kitchen floors & it matches the tile perfectly. I had not sealed the grouts lines so I did not have to worry about removing sealer. I stained the grout lines using a artist brush on my belly off & on for a few hours. It is very easy to apply & if you get some on your tile it just wipes off. If you miss some & it dries then all you have to do is scrap it off. I can not remember but I think this stain is not recommended for shower areas but I could be wrong. Oh, if you spill anything on the grout it just beads up & does not penetrate the grout. I would recommend this stain for any floor grout woes. After a year my floors still look like they were installed yesterday. Hope this helps anyone who is hesitant in applying stain because I can not give it enough praise....See Moretec xt stain resistant grout or laticrete spectralock grout
Comments (6)Thank you Jerry, I really appreciate you replying. I have decided to pay the 10% restocking fee for the TEC XT grout (after the 25% off and before the 7% sales tax it came to $36.71 for their stain resistant enhanced grout that is not an Epoxy. I will then drive a few miles farther down the highway and go to Lowe's and buy the SpectraLOCK Mushroom grout that I wanted but the former installer just wanted to use what was at the local tile store where I bought the Akoya Bone Tiles. I heard I need lots of sponges. What sponges are best so there will be clean ones here for him to use since I want the color to be true? The new installer says he can pick up glue and I do not need to buy more of the Adhese-SuperflexW Tile & Stone Mortars, 50 Lb Super Flext White (says this on the package so has abbreviations.. is in my cold garage right now....$42.74 after the 25% off I paid and before the sales tax). I was told the glue I had bought was a special Latex Glue. How can the installer mix glues since I have so much of this bag left over? What glue should we use since I have a cement floor due to the fact that I live in a townhouse with no basement. All this stress due to the first lot of the Rialto Beige tiles being sold out so I found a tile that looked just like that lighter color I wanted. I would have just asked Lowe's and bought what glue they told me but I can't return opened dry glue so now I have this bag here. I have to put an Estate on extension today and get these holiday cards out as well as close a few corporations. I am so behind in my work since I want my two foyer areas to look nice. I wish you lived near me Jerry so you could do this tile job for me and it would have been done months ago and I would not be behind in my work....See Morefloorman67
