I'm thinking of doing that in my MBR. The lighting in the BR and fixtures in the bath are ORB, so I want to change the door HW from builder brass to ORB, but keep the knob on the hallway side the brass to match other doors. What I plan on doing (since all the doors except the BR door to the hall and the linen closet door are pockets) is to buy a privacy set in ORB and only change the BR side (with the little push-button) and the bathroom side of the closet (doesn't bother me that knob will have tiny hole) and leave the inside of the closet brass. Another thing you can do (might be cheaper) is to just buy "dummy" knobs, though you can't get those in privacy, only closet type. Then just leave the working parts in place, pop off the knob and trim ring and replace them with the dummy trim.

I agree on the stainless. I like the Cruette, although personally I prefer a faucet with a single, deck-mounted control, like in your current setup (but I also like the pull-down). I have had a Delta Leland for ~4 years and have loved every minute of it! Maybe someone else can chime in on how well the Cruette works. WRT to moving the faucet to the side, I would be more concerned about how it functions, than how it looks. With your existing set up do you fill a pot with water by holding it in your left hand and using your right to control the water? Would moving the faucet make that harder/easier/no difference? Will you still be able to fit larger items under it if you move it to the back corner?

I like mixing up metals. Visually more interesting. I have a display in my front window that has RUST hardware on the light alder cabinets, stainless steel range and a chrome pot filler. No one ever notices this until I point it out. If everything was SS/satin nickel look, it would not look as nice, IMO. I also did a kitchen, satin nickel hardware, white appliances and ORB lighting. It looks amazing too!

You are putting a claw foot tub with shower in the guest bath used by your children? As another poster has written, showering in the small circle provided by the gerry rigged shower in a claw foot tub is a horrible experience. I can't imagine actually spending money to recreate it as I had a bathroom fitted like that in a house I rented in college. It's also more difficult to keep clean and difficult to get in and out of because of the high sides and that there isn't a large flat surface to stand in. And I suspect there will be a lot of splashing especially when kids use it. If you want a period look, built in tubs were welcomed in the 1920's and you can google for pictures of baths done with a period look that also have better functionality. Appropriate fixtures, tile and style of vanity would provide period charm with modern functionality. While I am not slavishly recreating a period look in my remodel, I did opt for period style fixtures in an eclectic way - floors are basket weave; tiled walls mimic the iconic green of Arts & Crafts tiles; my fixtures have somewhat of a Victorian field and they are oil rubbed bronze. Why not have a pump in the kitchen in lieu of faucet and only cold water as that might also be true to the period :-).
