Kitchen flooring...Luxury Vinyl Planks- opinions needed on color!
Comments (10)I have a friend who did this floor in her house. I am a flooring person and had to bend down and look and touch to tell it was not real. Great stuff. I like #1 best. Contrasts the best with the cabinets and seems to blend best with the doors and trim. It might make the space seem lighter. As lots of wood can darken areas somewhat. #3 is second choice as I like it better with every thing BUT your cabinets. It's ok with cabs as it has some dark areas and is a 'louder' sample. But seems more contemporary. I actually like it the best of the samples by itself. Just not with your cabs as well. Do not like any of the others. Not enough contrast with the other woodwork especially cabinets. #5 looks the most dated and unreal. Others seem too dark. I would keep the doors wood stained as they are but paint the trim. It looks like it needs sprucing up and with all other finishes changed will look more like it needs it. I'm doing stained doors and painted trim in our new house but realize others may not care for the look. I do like the vinyl planks though....See MoreAnyone ever use Shaw Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring
Comments (18)Thanks so much! So far we love it! All I have done so far is wiped it with a damp cloth. It doesn't show dust. It doesn't show footprints. We have not used it anywhere else yet, but we do plan on using it in our master bath when we redo that in the spring. I have nothing but positive comments to make. It's more of a medium tone- as far as I'm concerned. We had darker color samples and lighter ones also. We chose Brenwick because it most closely matched the rest of the woodwork in the house. We did put in white baseboard but the trim around the doors and the doors themselves are wood. Hope this helps!...See MoreLions Floor Luxury Vinyl Plank?
Comments (52)@HU-796072056 Hello! I chose the bambino because of the color I was looking for, the budget, the low foot traffic in my house. I have no kids or pets in the house. I was aware of it being 5.5mm. For more peotection, I recommend 7.7mm+. I’ve had my first incident where I dropped a knive on the kitchen, by accident, and it hit the floor with the sharp point and it made a small cut. I realized it’s very thin. I’ve placed area rugs where I spend more time doing things and could drop object by accident :). I’m clumpsy! Also, all my furniture have protection to avoid damage when moving them. Like anything, it‘s just taking care of it. I do have to say, if I do it again, i would demolish the old floors in the whole house and then be able to place the planks on the floor before installing since some of the knots are too close together. the installees where going room by room and i was able to be here. it would have been more days of installation and at that point I let it go. The installers tried, but it was hard since the plank design repeat every 10 planks and have an open floor plan. if you get a chance, tell your installers (if not you) to place them on the floor ahead of installation that way you can avoid that. keep that in mind in case you need extra days. My installers were not designers. Now I know:)....See MoreLuxury Vinyl Plank Flooring On Stairs
Comments (1)Go on the internet and search for the installation instructions and warranty for your exact flooring. These documents are usually PDF docs that can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website. It doesn’t matter what the manufacturer says over the phone or in an email. It matters what these documents say. Read the documents extremely carefully and highlight any relevant passages. Oftentimes, the manufacturer will not honor the warranty unless the installation is performed exactly according to the manufacturers instructions, which is why I’m recommending that you download both documents (and any others pertaining to your exact flooring.). You can use a computer program such as Adobe to highlight the relevant passages, then save the files with the markups and email them to your builder with your written expectations for a correct installation according to the manufacturers instructions, the warranty implications for an incorrect installation, and your requirement for new, undamaged materials to replace the damaged materials. If, by some chance, this is a correct installation, you can still highlight the relevant passages and ask the builder to contact his dealer or the manufacturer for a remedy to the problem. It’s possible that there is still a problem with the installation that is not visible to you, such as that the manufacturer specified a certain size/type of fastener and the installer used a different fastener than what is specified by the manufacturer. Something as simple as that could also possibly void the warranty. PS Code requires that all materials to be installed according to the manufacturer’s instructions....See Morehatetoshop
