Disappointed with ceiling drywall texture - 'hand texture'
Comments (4)If you do some digging, you'll find that texture is a very regional thing. Orange peel is pretty 'downscale' here in the Rockies: every house had it 30 years ago, so people doing new homes want something different. I've never seen one called 'hand' texture, but 'imperfect trowel' sounds similar. It's 'not quite smooth' with some areas showing quite a bit of texture, others almost none. Its quite the rage round here-- even I'm going to use it, despite an severe alergy to all things trendy. Has kind of an aged look. The other big trend is smooth [standard in some regions, an upcharge here]. Costs more so it must be better. No, that's not fair: I find it boring, but a lot of folks feel any texture at all just too busy....See Morekitchen remodel: cabinets hung before drywall repair
Comments (7)The wall behind the cabients should be fully drywalled and taped with at least one coat of mud over the tape. Cabinets shouldn't be applied directly to the studs. But, no, the area where the backsplash goes shouldn't be textured if you are doing tile or wallpaper or some other type of decorative backsplash there....See MoreBest primer for new construction, freshly textured drywall?
Comments (8)Thanks y'all for the quick replies. I will go look at each of these tomorrow. Can all of these be sprayed? The last comment has me a bit worried about gardz if it goes on clear, it might not be best for someone with minimal painting experience. Thoughts? Much appreciated!...See MoreDrywall texturing -- dry?
