SS is an upgrade from black for most people. Most models don't look industrial, and finger prints are easy enough to manage, they even make smudge proof appliances now. Lots of people upgrade one at a time, the mismatch is only really an issue at resale or if you're personally offended by it. You've heard all the pros and cons about black SS so now it's up to you if you want to take the gamble or not. Good luck.

Bisque was around for almost 40 years, not the same as the avocado & harvest gold. Makers better get on the stick, some of us hate SS with a passion. WTF wants a SS appliance with black or gray sides. They do it to make money. White, black & bisque are the way to go. You'd have thought SS would have gone by now, LOL, but they just keep making them cheaper looking. My Saturday rant at this crap. Have a great day.

Sure, if it started peeling/flaking on its own you could continue doing it, but the likelihood of it coming off uniformly all at one time is vanishingly small. If you try that, the refrigerator will look like it has psoriasis. But, hey, it's your refrigerator so you should do whatever you want with it. Just don't revisit this in a year asking how to make a scabby-looking refrigerator pristine after you've picked at or scraped the finish, and possibly also damaged the underlying surface. ;-)
