Photos of slate tile next to matte white ceramic?
Comments (1)I think it will look wonderful, but I am biased because thats what we have done, with a dark slate-like porcelain. This would have even more contrast than a true slate would, so I think your combination will look great. We used Daltile Continental Slate in Asian Black on the floor and Daltile Matte Arctic White on the walls. Here is a pic of the floor, please excuse the hideous bath, it will be refinished soon! And one of the tub area....See MoreHelp with paint colors - oak cabinets slate colored tiles (PICS)
Comments (10)Juddgirl2 - Thanks for the link! I really like the Believable Buff you used. And I will check out Camelback and Whole Wheat as well. I'm still torn between a yellow (White Raisin) and a neutral for the common areas of the house. Time to get some samples and paint some large swatches! Elaine - The pictures of your house in another post is what made me want to go with White Raisin throughout! It's beautiful, I just love that color. Its warm without being too bright of a yellow. Although I love the colors in your house I think the Bamboo Shoot is a little to green for me, I'd prefer something a little more muted for my master. BM Olive Branch was my first choice but I was trying to find a similar color in Sherwin Williams since that's what the painter uses and saw Svelte Sage... not quite the same but a nice muted sage green. And the Connected Gray was one step deeper on the same strip so I thought that would go nicely in the bathroom. Lukkiirish - Thanks for the information on Restore-a-Finish. I see they have it on amazon.com so it will be easy to find....See MoreSlate Tile in my house-can't seem to find to replace and/or add!
Comments (9)We recently installed 1400 s.f. of slate flooring for a client (historical home). We sourced the slate and requested samples from two suppliers in Vermont: http://www.vtslate.com/flooring.htm http://www.vermontstructuralslate.com/ Note that Vermont Specialty Slate (first one above) has 2 more options not on website: Heathermoor and Greyson. Ordered from Vermont Specialty once selection was made. We fabricated much of the slate to the specific sizes we needed for the complex pattern. You would need to fabricate as well to replicate your pattern. Your installer can determine what sizes and quantity of each size to minimize fabricating labor and waste. A very good tile contractor should be up to this task (research well). Our cost was $11.25/s.f. plus freight, but prices vary depending upon the selection. Note that fabrication labor adds to your cost. As stated above, sealer can be applied to create the polished finish. And yes, a stone restoration contractor can clean and restore the current slate. A company like this: http://www.nsmarble.com/ but obviously one local to you. Great floor. Keep it. Best of luck....See Moreupdating home with Brazilian Cherry hardwood and slate tile
Comments (31)This may sound weird, but what about incorporating some black? Such as painting your built in units black and using some black furnishings to tie in some of the dark points in the slate. I might be off base here but it just might work! Also, the gray/blue on the walls might be pulling some of the purple out in the floors. Perhaps try a warm white on the walls. Good luck!...See Morelindac92
