How do you decorate a bathroom?
Comments (7)I usually treat it as a room. Art (not something too precious though). plants/flowers in a little pots..I like funky things, so if I can incorporate one or two-I'll do that. I love colorful patterned towels the most. I try to keep a candle there-first, candles are nice; second, very helpful if the lights go off. Actually I try to keep a candle or two in every room-I don't burn them often, but they can prove very handy. Would be fair to add that I'm extremely lucky, having two big bathrooms with plenty of light, for the past several years, and a powder room. I have embarrassing love for shower curtains too:) I need only one right now(kids' bathroom), so can't express myself fully lol. Already gave them as a gift for friends and family..five or six time maybe? Poor things. One friend was very happy though. Really been using them for years and all. So I had one fifth of success...)) Wallpaper in a bathroom is my dream. Not going to happen any time soon though. The new space is wrong for wallpaper. Stylistically. I was seriously considering papering new kids' bath only, since it's no style at all-then I arrived to a conclusion it will be a (very expensive) lipstick on a pig. So. I bought a new shower curtain..))...See Morehow do I know which toilet to purchase when i renovate my bathroom?
Comments (2)Buy a toilet in your price range that gets good reviews. Standard toilets have a 12" rough-in, meaning that the center of the drain is about 12" from the back wall. If yours is different from this by, say, 1"-2" you might need to order a toilet with a different size rough-in. There are dozens of discussions here on GardenWeb where people discuss the "best" toilets, and you should use the search function here to read through those....See Morehow do I decorate this boring kitchen and bathroom?
Comments (2)Be happy you have a blank slate! You don’t have awful colors to work around, you have neutral. So often people write Houzz with the opposite problem-tiles with horrible patterns, walls with clashing colors, floors that fight with the rest of the room. Bring in lots of your woods with a coffee table in the living room, cutting boards and wooden utensil holders in the kitchen, natural wood picture frames for pictures of trees and colored leaves. The bathroom will come alive with brightly colored towels and a striped rug. Be an artist with this blank canvas and pick colorful things that make you smile and feel happy....See MoreBathroom lighting - how do I know when I have enough?
Comments (6)As @Lyndee Lee pointed out, these mirrors produce 300 lumens, which is the equivalent of only a 40 watt bulb. These are meant for accent lighting, not task lighting. For both baths, I recommend additional sconce lighting. Also, a Solatube is great for the daytime, but at night, the shower will be dark. I recommend additional recessed lighting in the shower. In general, for very good vanity lighting, I prefer sconces flanking a mirror instead of lighting placed above. I aim for over 2000 lumens total per mirror (dimmable) and a color temp of at least 3000k (the mirrors are 2700k)....See MoreGloria S
