Comments (6)Usable wall space might be another consideration. The side panels of the 10x12 are 6 5" tall. With the base/foundation, our side walls are about 7 tall. This will allow a 30" tall bench, a wire shelf above that, and a lower shelf under the bench top. So, three levels of plant space is easily possible (I generally have small pots of cacti and succulents.) The side panels of the 6x8 are 4 tall. The final height is determined by the height of the foundation added, so adding a 12" foundation could mean sidewalls about 5 tall. For my plants, that might limit me to two levels of plant space. The 10x12 does allows a bit more flexibility in floor plans. WeÂre building a long bench on each wall, and adding three peninsula benches off one bench, with standing spaces in between. Somewhere I saw a pic of a 10x12 with a U-shaped bench around all three side walls, and a small island workspace in the center. Not roomy, but possible. Regarding aesthetics, I like the feel of the overhead space, but I admit the GH does "stand out" visually in the yard. A shorter GH would have blended in better with our landscaping. I like it when IÂm inside, but when IÂm outside I wish I could crank it down a few inches! At least one member here has mounted a ceiling fan at the peak of the 10x12, another use of that space. IÂve considered creating a "false ceiling" out of solar pool cover in the winter, to block off the peak and limit the amount of air IÂll be heating. (I already have three horizontal braces in place at ceiling height.) IÂve wondered if the (roughly 10 ½Â) height of my 10x12 might help it feel coolerÂif the warmest air concentrates above the level of my head and my plants? But I have no knowledge to support that idea (my newly erected GH is still one big oven.) Maybe someone else has thoughts about thatÂIÂm too new to understand how warm and cool air behaves in these things....See MoreWhich HFGH do you recommed--the 6x8 or 10x12?
Comments (19)Bob...I'd change my priorities. Get rid of the wife first...anyone that rips out a plant, stomps it into the floor, etc. is going to be a pain in your side in the future and I'm certain she's been that in the past. Replace her with a dog...they know how to give unconditional love...then go for whichever greenhouse you want. Learn to be happy again and not obsessed with worries. For years I dealt with someone that would threaten suicide whenever she didn't get her way...or feel properly coddled. After years of enduring that we separated...eventually divorced and thank God she moved to another state. She no longer could get her way with her threats or nastiness. My life has changed totally. I'm no longer the quiet, cautious, think-everything-over-five times and then do-nothing guy. Think it over, get counseling, take it slowly...but if your life is one of worrying about plants destroyed, avoiding nastiness, busted windows from her throwing things in rage, etc...change it and be happy....See More6x10'6" bathroom design
Comments (10)Our bathroom is similarly-sized - about 6' x 10' with the shower and toilet in the same locations as shown in the picture above (we wanted to move the toilet and enlarge the bathroom, but couldn't due to construction of building and location of stack). The difference in ours is that the entrance is to the left of the toilet (where the vanity is in the last picture) and the 60" two-sink vanity is directly across from that (opposite where you show it) (between the vanity and the shower is where our towel hooks are). Based on my experience, I will say that the shower at 32" plus the curb is a fine size for one person, the toilet is a little cramped (and we have nothing to the left but open space). I would definitely think two sinks plus toilet plus the shower all in a row will be cramped. Without a floor plan I can't tell - is there any way to relocate the door and put the vanity on the opposite wall? An alternative would be the kind of vanity that has two integrated sinks (but little storage on the countertop) in 48"?...See MoreHelp remodeling 20x10 kitchen
Comments (10)You don't have enough space for an island--barely enough space for the peninsula. I would prioritize continuous counter between the cooktop/range and the sink, so that you don''t have to cross a traffic aisle to move prepped items to the cooktop. Using a range would save space, but the following plan omits the peninsula, and I don't have a solution to the corner sink. Put a tall pantry just inside the hall entry, so that the view from the entry is not the fridge. On the other end of the the 10' wall the fridge will be more convenient to the dining area and the FR. Use deep cabinetry around the fridge, to make it look built in, and use 15" deep upper cabs. I drew open shelves on both sides of the corner window, to take advantage of the light....See Moreds3591
