Help! I can't get pet odor out of my new house!
Comments (12)Treating pet odors is what I do for a living and I see situations like this on a daily basis. I am going to asume your basement subflooring is concrete which is porous and will absorb urine and its odors. Bleach is the strongest household disinfectant you can use to kill germs and odors and it will do good as a initial clean-up on the surface which is the key word. After the bleach has dried the concrete still has wet urine and odor below the surface that is still off-gassing. The next step is get the concrete as dry as possible by using air movers and dehumidifiers together this equipment will also dry the walls if the cats have been spraying on them. Finally we use a industrial sealer that has a moisture barrier and a odor barrier once applied we guarantee you will never smell any pet urine odor from any area we treat. Kills is designed for smoke odors, as cat and dog urine acids will eventually weaken the product and the urine odor will be back. Enzymes are temporary fixes or are for minor problems per the manufacturers instruction the area has to stay wet for up to 3 weeks for best results and @$20-40 gal do the math bleach is better and stronger. Besides you have already cleaned the area now you have to get it sealed. Oh! and toss the carpet It would cost you more for a pet odor treatment then replacement. Comments (11)you need to post a pic.. and get an ID.. for truly useful info ... start your education .. by calling the stuff in a pot.. media ... just to get rid of the confusing term soil ... annuals and perennials are water hogs ... and the media used for them is like a sponge ... trees .. most of them.. but who knows about yours ... like a sip of water.. and near drying before watering again ... so the spongy stuff is not good ... use the GW houzz search engine up top of any page .... and put in al's gritty mix ... for a good start on understanding media ... and how its built ... black pots should never be in sun ... the pot.. and the media get too hot ... and tree roots like to be cool ... but the tree prefers full sun ... so a perfect place is out of the sun in the heat of the day ... say noon to 6 ... of placing the pot behind something so the pot is hidden ... if you get as far as all that ... we can talk about winter storage in fall ... you should also tip it out of the pot.. and get a pic of the roots .. if they are severely winding around the pot its in now.. you should probably do some root surgery ... AND I AN NOT SURE I WOULD DO THAT IN THE HEAT OF SUMMER ... fall would be a much more forgiving time to do that ... we need to ID the tree .. and words aent good enough ... ken...See Moretotally OT but i just have to share with my pet friends!!
Comments (84)mr. gabriel cut his first tooth just yesterday! he will be 8 months old on saturday. he's doing great! i think he's gonna be one of those babies who skips crawling all together and just starts walking. he "walks" all over the place with help from whichever grownup can bend long enough without back pain. LOL! needless to say, we take turns! he has figured out quickly all about putting one foot in front of the other. melissa is in the process of putting gates up to keep him corralled. he LOVES to be in the pool!!! he splashes like crazy and doesn't care a bit about getting his face wet. :) thanks for asking about him! he is the light of my life. i'm going up tomorrow to spend the day with him. he has this cute little fake cry when he's getting tired but fighting sleep. it cracks me up! i laugh at him and he starts laughing back. i LOVE rocking him to sleep! he is eating lots of different foods and is drinking from a little cup!!...See MoreGoodbye My Pet
Comments (78)In the morning, I heard Charlie make that hacking sound that cats make, (though this was rare). When I went to him, he had blood on his face. I cleaned him up, while he purred, to see where the blood had come from and nothing was obvious. I immediately called my vet and was able to get in. He was puzzled as Charlie appeared very healthy with good vitals, good color with only a slight elevation in temperature. He thought possibly it was an irritation from something as simple as an embedded hair that caused an infection and antibiotics would clear it up. Since he was closing at noon, I decided to take Charlie to the Emergency Clinic for further tests to determine the source of the blood. My worst fear was that he had swallowed something, though that wasn’t usual, and would require surgery. There, again, after examining him, it was felt it was something minor that antibiotics would clear up. Tests were performed while he was under anesthetic. I waited there the whole day expecting I would be bringing him home. Then, I heard the word, cancer. Things got a bit blurry from then on. Aggressive, fast growing, non operable, painful, cancer in the throat…..would need a feeding tube…..could take him to a specialist in another city but it was hopeless. Hopeless is how I felt. All the money in the world couldn’t help my Charlie. Shocking is an understatement……even the vet and techs were shocked. Three years old and not the tiniest hint of anything amiss in his behavior, habits or functions. Losing a pet has always been extremely painful for me, but the fact that they have been older and had a loving home was a bit consoling. Charlie was so young and had such a presence. I miss him like crazy....See More- 6 years ago
