HELP! Clear Glass Shower Doors w/ hard water stains
Comments (109)I tried every suggestion in this post and nothing worked for me. I live in New Hampshire and it makes sense stains will be different depending on where you live. Finally, I found the solution ...a pumice stone. There are several brands available online. I found this one in my local grocery and hardware store, and it's pretty inexpensive. Just use with water ..it didn't take a lot of muscle....just a little patience but it worked beautifully. I had gone so far as to get a quote for replacement shower doors and stumbled on this product just before I was ready to place the order. So glad I tried it because new doors were more than $800. Just wanted to share in case it helps someone else!...See MoreFireplace..eyesore or asset? counter/color scheme/ design help pl
Comments (28)Thanks so much to everyone. Romy718, your room is beautiful!! You do not need to wait for rugs & accessories to know that, it looks great and the colors are so pretty and work great together. Thanks for showing me. And I need to go on back to the backsplash thread and start looking up info on those tiles. I think the one that you said you were using in your own kitchen is my favorite...is it ok if our houses end up looking like cousins?! gpraceman, someday I hope to replace the slate hearth with soapstone. That was my plan for this remodel but budget got tight and we decided to just scrub down the existing slate hearth, my GC put some sort of sealer/enhancer on it; and we painted the shelf White dove same color as our trim. I'm not crazy about it, I really want a thicker distressed wood mantle, but it'll do for now. nyse2502, first, thank you Im so glad to hear you like my fireplace! This thread is from several months ago, in the meantime I had several other threads going round and round on what countertop material to choose. In the end I went away from the Sea Pearl, the Jet Mist, the Steel gray... and ended up with a Calcutta marble on my island that I love and a very plain almost solid gray Silestone on my perimeter which I am really happy with. It was a great solution for me. I got a (relatively) small little chunk of a gorgeous fragile material that I love, and then I have an extremely durable uncomplicated attractive counter everywhere else that I don't have to worry about. I admit to being totally overwhelmed and absorbed with my own reno that I haven't had tons of time to be looking at all the threads on here so maybe I missed it, but have you posted pics of your whole house reno? Sounds like a huge job, congrats on being done! I'll post a picture of my updated fireplace. This room still needs a lot of work...a rug, something on other side of fireplace, different mirror or something else on mantle, a screen for fp...but you get the idea. Thanks for all the support on this thread!...See MoreZero Curb Shower Base
Comments (9)It looks like he left the existing concrete in place and is trying to slope the shower with that sloppy mud work? It doesn't look like he got too far where tearing everything out and starting over would be too costly (besides the labor or down payment of course) For a curb-less entry to work with a concrete floor, you either have to raise the outside floor area in order to be able to slope to drain (which is not usually a practical option) or remove the concrete in shower area and slope a mud bed to drain. I would recommend trying to get the channel drain in front of bench so that the tile work is easier to install (could use large format tile that way too) Sorry you've got such a poor installation done...but there is no way this guy would be able to complete this project without major problems down the road (maybe in the first shower!)...See MoreOver-Slab Vapor Barrier
Comments (27)there Is a diference between vapor barrier and water proof redgaurd waterproof well maybe not if you only apply 1 coat? Wrong. Taken from CBP redgaurd tech sheet.: Redgard can be used as a slab-on-grade moisture vapor barrier under all types of floor coverings. Dennis: always go direct to the product tech spec( as you did) never fight with CA inspectors :). Ditra has been tested for California.exceeds both vapor perm and is VOC compliant theres many better products regardless and sounds like youve found one that will be fine.. DITRA and DITRA-XL were evaluated according to the "Standard Method for the Testing and Evaluation of Volatile Organic Chemical Emissions from Indoor Sources Using Environmental Chambers, Version 1.1" for California Specification 01350 and found to comply with the VOC requirements. California Specification 01350 is referenced by various green building standards and rating systems....See Morevintagestuf
