Need help with TV wall

I recently painted our family room and not sure what to put on this wall behind TV. I used to have a gallery wall before but it just felt cluttered to me. my style is sort of... I don't know :) I had thought about black rimmed frames with black and white photos but I was going to do that in DR and since it's open concept not sure if that would be too many too close to each room. Also thought about just putting nothing behind TV ??? The ceilings are 9 1/2 high so I have room but just not sure about what to put. Any advice would be appreciated!!

My vote would be to hang nothing behind the tv.

Thanks Lisa, I'm kind of feeling that too but then sometimes it just feels so blank to me. I still have lots to do though area rug being the next thing. so maybe I'll just wait and see what speaks to me before hurrying to fill the space on the wall :)

A long console under your TV....may have to lower the TV a bit. I would put some drapes or curtains up also. Not sure I would put anything on the wall by the TV but after getting the entertainment console, see how it looks first. A bookcase on the wall facing the windows....not on the TV wall would be good. I know you only asked about the TV wall but other things I would like to suggest....a table and lamp at the end of your couch (Chair end) and a floor lamp on the other end of your couch. Also a small table between your chairs...something like a garden stool for guest to put their coffee cups.

Change one of the tags on this post to design dilemma for more responses. I’d suggest filling in the recessed wall. Any chance seating could go at that spot and hang/set a TV to the left where a sofa is? Or is it an open area?

I like your TV unit.I would move chair, it does not belong for this spot.. Then I would center the TV unit of the wall and get some wall art on both sides.

Thanks celerygirl. I love what you did there. That is a great and simple arrangement. that TV unit is actually just an old 70s dresser my parents had and I painted and changed hardware to use for tv stand ;) I never thought about just putting the art on the sides like that instead of all around but I do like it so that may be an option for me. And I agree the chair doesn't go or match it just doesn't have a better spot right now. I might move it to bedroom just to get it out of family room though. Thanks again!!

I like the pic celerygirl posted with the art beside, but not above, the TV. I also think that the top of the dresser should be clear of everything but the TV. It's too cluttered with the additional stuff crowding around the TV (IMO). Normally I would say go with a wider console, but the art on the sides serves to widen the area visually.

Now about a tall plant where the chair is now....yes, I like the art on the sides of the TV only but think with the plant, that plant may be enough.
