OH NO! Dreaded 'ID'
Comments (28)Sorry, no luck with ads. I tried the Macomb Daily and the Detroit Free Press/News on Sundays, Saturdays, Thursdays- in their Open House sections and in the regular want ad open house areas. Nothing. Nada! Not one visitor to my open houses ever came because of seeing an ad. I started using the ads in March and used them here and there through July. Six months before we signed with our realtor (Tom Farago C21), we had him do a CMA. He advised us to use lots of signage for open houses, and that's what I did. I had the little red "Open House" signs with arrows and stuck on printed addresses. I placed them every Sunday at Gratiot, Groesbeck, Harrington, Mulberry, and Remick - every entry into the area. I was constantly fixing my signs! As a matter of fact, just before we gave up on the FSBO route and signed with Tom, I had bought a bunch of signs from Rocket Signs online, 18x24 signs with descriptions of the house, to draw people into the sub (Seminole Hills/Heights). The arrowheads for the signs were stick-on, so I could place the signs on the side of streets and then stick the arrowhead on, pointing the way, left or right. I didn't get a chance to use them much, we signed with Tom right away. I had a big sign made for the front lawn at Rocket Signs. It was 24 x 24 and gave info about the house to draw people in. I always had two-sided full-color handouts in the box on the lawn. I think I went through over 200 of them. I always listed the price. I notice that some realtors do not put the price on theirs. Tom is not using newspaper ads, either. The house is in the C21 booklet people can pick up in the grocery stores, and on a bunch of websites. Open houses are done once or twice a month, and do draw people in our neighborhood. We had four sets of people at one two weeks ago. One young lady almost offered, but (like everyone else) wanted an eat-in kitchen! Yes, let us all hope for a better season! I hope hearing about our experiences helped. I guess it could be a description of how NOT to sell a house, since it did not work!...See MoreI normally dread going to the store
Comments (11)Glad you had a good trip to the store, buddy. I figure that one of the best stress-relievers around ... ... is a bit of humour, here and there (as long as it isn't aimed at somebody's ribs)!! Doesn't cost a penny - but it often brings a smile to someone's face, softens the whole face a bit ... and, just maybe, may make their day (or a part of it, at least). I find that, when I make some rather humourous comment to someone in a store or elsewhere in public (e.g. sometimes when I see someone checking out the candy counter ... or carrying a cup of coffee, I ask whether it may be true that that stuff is addictive - it usually beings a smile and an expression of agreement) usually they respond in kind, and seldom do I find someone make a grumpy response. I think that if I shared my home with someone, I'd be less inclined to talk to strangers when out and about. Have a blessed Christmas, everyone. ole joyful...See MoreWhat to do to replace the dreaded Carpet Wall?

Comments (31)As a person who has had a lifetime of having cats...18 with the two new additions, I feel your pain. I had to list them to make sure I wasn't forgetting anyone. Simon, Pumpkin, Casey, Cricket, Maddie,Louie, Emma, Minnie, Nellie, Annie, Peeper, lily, Henry ,Phoebe, Bernie, Poppy, Piper in no particular order except at the beginning and end. Of these, I had one prolific pee-er. It can be many factors, medical , emotional and just because they can. Maddie was my pee er and after vet's visits and other modifications which were futile, one day I took her in the carriage house empty of cars. It's a very large building and it was summer and a trial for a day or two. I put her food and water, toys and bed and litter box. I had thought maybe she was being bullied. Nope, she peed out of the box when there was NO earthly reason. I have one or two who pooped beside the box even though it was cleaned every day. Cats are mysterious creatures. Three years ago when I found the Maine coon I thought maybe that's why he was dumped. Nope, perfect habits from day one, All five litter boxes are in the basement and so when I got the new girls in June, Piper did pee on a rug because this was all new to her being in a cage for over four months but as soon as I carried her down to the basement, she caught on, Since two of my cats are declawed(not by me) my only problem now is dealing with piper clawing inappropriate things but she's good about using scratching posts. I think inappropriate elimination is the number one reason cats are dumped. I am such a cat person, I could never live a minute without a few, but will admit it's a nasty problem. I'm sorry this was rambling with really no solution. I have used Natures Miracle with limited results. I think a change in their lives...cats hate change and new things is a big factor too. Good luck....See Morepartim
