Comments (3)This gasteria was a very popular photo subject because of its very cool look. My question is: how does it even survive with so little photosynthesizing green chlorophyll tissue?...See MorePhiladelphia Flower Show photos
Comments (0)Stoney Bank Nurseries / The perspective here is phenomenal: you are looking at least 100’ through the Full Moon opening in the garden wall, across a still pond to that Chinese red arched bridge at the end; that’s a matching red azalea you see beyond the bridge, with both of them reflected in the water. Those bursts of yellow and pink you see by the opening were sectional peonies, and there were dozens more along the sides. Irish Tourism Board / Ever since joining the Show in 2007 as the central exhibit of that year’s theme, Legends of Ireland, these folks have turned out one splendid display after another - a little lamb nibbling the grass would have been the only appropriate addition. . ....See MorePhiladelphia Flower Show - Lots of Pictures
Comments (14)Todd - Not sure about the bonsai. It was my favorite amongst the exhibit mostly because of the trunk. The Euphorbia was very large, I should have put my hand in the picture for size comparison. Bernard - I really like the Ariocarpus genus. I have one old little guy at home that I got from a horticulturalist. I'll try to remember to get a photo of it. I am not sure if 15 is variegated. It may just be culture that has caused some of the leaves to turn color. Regarding 10/11 - I did a plant swap with Martin awhile ago so he could acquire a seemingly more compact grown C. arborescens ssp. undulatifolia with other various different leaf characteristics. The website I got it from had a different name for it but I can't remember what it was right now (I'll try to find out). I followed up with him recently to see if the growth was similar or different from undulatifolia 'Ripple Jade' or 'Blue Waves' and he said it is different. Unfortunately the plants I took the cuttings from did not make it. I received very unhealthy plants from the website that couldn't handle the shock (I'd never personally order from them again). Maybe Martin can start a new thread comparing the two plants. I think anyone can pretty much enter whatever plant they like and am assuming they are the ones who provide the ID so it may just be that two people called the same plant something different and culture lead to a disparity and growth habits. -Erica...See MorePhiladelphia Flower Show Aloes
Comments (11)I love it Laura! Love the oddballs. Hope you win and post pictures of your plants here. My biggest plant show trek was to Floreade in the Netherlands. It happens every 10 years. I planned our vacation around that one. I didn't love it though. Seemed more geared to kids/education. My favorite plant show of all time is Chelsea Flower Show in London. I have been maybe 6 times or so and it is my nirvana. Pure perfection of plant material. And my husband does not mind going because of the Pimm's tent. :) He's British and it is his favorite summertime drink....See Moreposierosie_zone7a
