Perfectly balances the fireplace w/o overwhelming it, continues the line from wall to wall and gives the eye a place to rest. Thanks Deedee99! I really like Les's idea a lot too. I'm playing around w/ that idea for my entry hall. It probably sounds weird to do it there but I really want to make sure that the children are represented w/ a space dedicated to them. I thought that putting their Christening outfits & little white sweaters against a pale grey backdrop and in white frames would be very elegant and then I would do a more free form collage of them on the big entry wall. I think my Dad is going to have a few frame projects for me! So those were gramaphones? The uppermost mantle is only 2" deep. I think they were so cool and I could completely see a collection of them on the buffet that we turned into a TV stand. That's why I was curious to know more about where Marcolo found them. A few weekends ago I painted one whole wall in our DR w/ chalkboard paint. The kids love it - now I just need to decide on white walls for the rest of the DR or pale grey walls. As far as a career in design? Our original plan was that once we bought our business that I would cut my medical hours from FT to PT and then I could embark on some furniture stuff w/ DH and grow the business by spinning off my stuff & design in a separate business but since helping to start this new practice I don't see being able to do that in the foreseeable future. Honestly it makes me a bit sad but my boss is also my friend and I really want to help her out too and get her stuff going. She knows my goals and we've discussed me going PT for her as soon as the practice is off the ground and steady. I don't have a functioning camera right now to make an electronic photo file, but will remark that it is easiest inside a nice cabinet to use combinations of pex tubing and push to connect fittings such as Sharkbite brand (among many others) to avoid sweat soldering damage. All that is needed is a means to cut the pex to a clean flat end. Mistakes are easily remedied by using a different size piece of pex. Adapters exist to go from the pex to the fitting that dangling faucet hoses use. 3/8 poly line along with John Guest type push to connect fittings will be good for RO lines or such. Pex and poly are at their limit when used for pressurized water at boiling temperatures, so the hot water source in the house needs to be under some form of temperature control. A boiler type of water heater with potential for overshoot to 220 or so would be a risk in my view without a working moderator (required anyway by code). Some water chemistries tend to degrade the modulator so that needs to be kept in mind. My primary sink cabinet base includes garbage disposal and DWV plumbing, stand pipe for dishwasher hose, hot/cold feed for main faucet and to moderating valve for dishwasher (gets mix of hot and cold). Also there is the touch faucet control box, the fiber-optic garbage disposal control box, and quad electrical outlet. RO connection to both hot and cold sides of a pull-down faucet are present. All of the plumbing is mounted on stand-offs on the back or side walls of the cabinet base. kas

Thank you ladies! Now the horrible task of wiping down every little tube and doohickey before it's put away. I can't seem to find lighting I want. I will use a floor standing multi light near the desk but would like somthing like this plug in light box for the top of the storage center. I remember this light from a Au. site. If any of you see something like this that's reasonable please let me know.

great advice upthread I'll try to be short, probably repeating several people: -get rid of the white console next to the fireplace/look for smth else instead if you need it there for function -think of other window treatments. curtains? woven blinds? roman shades? any of these will look better. move your sectional a bit from the wall, both to allow room for window treatments and because furniture generally needs at least couple inches to breathe..that wil also make room seem larger -you already purchased the ottoman in the same color and style of the sofa..off white, right? well something different would be better, but it's okay..buy a throw, fold it and put there to break your lines a bit. tray is great too-both for function and beauty. you'll appreciate it when watching this TV -I liked reading how your wife gets her art:) okay..so if there's no real room for other suggestions(I'm also prejudiced against mass produced canvas art..maybe she can be talked into a print instead?..)..put that art there first. Make sure it fits-seems huge?.. Say you go for that a very similar art, you have there-a bit of white, black, brown, indigo blue, fiery yellow white and brown you already have in your room (btw like your furniture) pull your other colors (in pillows and throws and accessories) from that art -deep sophisticated blues, golds. can be metallic accessories (like vases or flower pots?), can be softest fur pillows can be velvet, can be knitted throw. everythhing you buy-make sure it's a different texture..leather is sleek you've got enough of it. Speaking from experience-I also have my fair share of leather:) then look for a big ticket items like curtains and a rug. (or simultaneously..just keep your general scheme in mind). you can decide to make them fairly neutral. repeat the color of the furniture, just different material of course. or go for one vivid deep color but make it a shag rag for example. Don't try to match pattern to art..art has a mind of its own. Look at the room as a whole..what does it ask for? and know yourself of course..say I love many rugs but I don't like to clean them lol. You know whether it's high traffic area, what your habits are, and whether you'll be sad for 5 min if the rug will have spots and then get over it, or will be sad for 5 days. when you buy a side table try, again, to introduce another texture, just different material in this case. maybe wood. maybe ceramics(garden stool?some of these look really modern). every new material you bring creates dimension. Dimension is something you look for when creating spaces. Why? well that what we've used to. Ouside always has it. Even when it's a desert or an ocean. It has depth. we need to recreate it with all sort of ways and means that are availiable to us.. Good luck! will be a cool room edited because of thousand typos..))
