Thanks for the recommendation. I know this is a bit off topic but seeing the name Miscavige reminded me of a story arc on General Hospital (don't judge me) where they named the mental hospital "Miscavige" because of the whole Scientology craziness.

I just read a book about a young woman/man, trying to be a woman. Very interesting to read, how such a person thinks, and the thing they go through. Make me so glad, I am me.

I bought, and read, that Kindle book three years ago. I was astounded. As Jenna Miscavige Hill is the niece of David Miscavige (the leader of the Church of Scientology) I thought she would have been treated better (by the Church when she was still a member) than she was.

When Leah Remini left Scientology, everyone made a huge deal out of it. She wrote a book and was on every talk show imaginable, talking about her experiences. I was so surprised that no one ever mentioned Jenna and what she went through. It's as if Leah is the only person who experienced what she did and lived to tell about it.

I do want to read this. I have watched an interview or two with her on You Tube, and a book should be more important than a few minutes of conversation.

had same thought as aok! when i was early into mending process from broken arm, was seriously "handicapped" in kitchen. cut, very neatly i might add, a flap of skin off finger with mandolin. man did that bleed. did you ever try to bandage something with only use of ONE hand? an adventure!

I'm changing the subject a bit, but if you're interested in books that really "put you into the mind of someone else" and are interested in autism, try The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.

It's told through the eyes of a teenaged boy who is autistic, and it was quite interesting. He made "rules" for himself, and although they were somewhat logical, they were not sensible at all. He couldn't see things that were blatantly clear to the reader, yet he was a brilliant mathematician. A secondary plotline shows the reader the frustration of a loving father who was trying very hard to do what was best for his son -- with difficulties from multiple directions.

Not a true story, but an excellent read.
