I have fabric drawer organizers that I use in my dresser. They fold flat when not in use, and take up almost no space but they keep things contained. But they aren't 9 in tall, I think they're more like 7. Not sure what you can find that would run front to back in your drawers that are ready made. And I have no suggestions on how to make something. Check Amazon, that's where I got mine and I believe they have quite an assortment of different sizes and shapes.

The more I think about it, the more I think I am going to have to make them myself. I bought a set of fabric cubes for my closet similar to your box. But they are SO soft sided, that I don't think they will hold anything up. The only stiffener in them is the cardboard square in the bottom.

I really DON'T want to have to make them, but I have looked online for a couple of days now. All drawer dividers found are for 4" deep or below.

I am thinking either foamcore or corrugated plastic (like coroplast). But I still have to devise a way of attaching it to the sides of the drawers. Ideally, not anything that will damage them (they are antique or at least vintage).

Hat about dividing the drawers with tension rods and either attaching something solid, like foamcore, or fabric to the rod? For fabric, have tension rods on top and bottom.

linnea56: You might want to do a 'drawer divider' search in the Kitchens forum as you'll get plenty of hits there. I'm sure all kitchen drawer ideas can be applied to dresser drawers, too. Maybe you could assemble them like the dividers in liquor boxes. Slots in one go into slots in the other to interlock.

I started looking for drawer dividers doing a search on Houzz (after that google, Container Store, Amazon, Ebay) : but there are so many hits, and so far, none the right kind. Almost all the shallow kind that either won't work here, or would be prohibitive scaled up and in the quantity I need. A couple great DIY wooden ones, but I don't have the tools. Sigh....

I would buy the whole piece and decide sizes at home. This kind of moulding is not hard to hand-saw.

For us, yes, that was the case -- i.e., top and bottom were required for stability. Though, ours are 10" high drawers holding heavy casserole dishes, pots, pans, etc. Your needs aren't as heavy duty. It was cheaper for DH to purchase his dado set and create his own channels rather than spend the money on the dentil strips. And he'll be using the tools for other projects in the house, so it made sense for us.

^^^ Since it was easy enough for us to do so, we we ahead and installed top and bottom strips.

A more cumbersome way to go, but you could purchase those thin strips of wood (found in the craft wood section of HD, I think) and cut them down to size. When you affix a row in the back of your drawer, just leave a gap between pieces: these gaps would serve as your channels.

ETA: Poplar strips (1/4" thick) are what I'm thinking of. A 3" x 48" piece cost $3.23 a couple of years ago.

Yes, I have been thinking about dadoes! ;) Do you use a dado cutter in a router? I don't have a router. But I do have a drill press.

I have been searching for a true deep drawer organizer for years and am shocked nobody has ever made one. Even the Container Store calls their deep drawer organizer at 4" which is a joke. I have 8.5" deep drawers and I want slots that are that high as well but they do not exist anywhere. Someone who is good at this- here is a gigantic hole in the market to make something like this.
