Should I remove the fireplace?

We are looking to move our living room into our "fireplace" room which isnt currently being utilized. As shown in the pictures, we are looking to remove the slider door to open it up into the sunroom (which will be insulated properly). These pictures are old as they are from when we bought the house, and the space currently isn't being used, but we planned on putting the TV and a couch in spots similar to the pics. My dillema is whether or not we should remove the fireplace. Since this will be our main living room area, I dont think one couch will be enough seating, but I dont see any other configuration or layout that would allow me to put more furniture in other than removing the fireplace and using that spot for another sofa. Any thoughts?

EDIT: If we decide to keep the fireplace, I would also be looking for ideas on how we could remodel it in a cheap, potentially DIY fashion. We may end up just whitewashing the brick and looking at mantle options.
