Glad it had a happy ending. One of my 2 indoor cats likes to "slip out" when the front door opens. If I see him do it, I immediately go out and coax him back in. Once he was gone all day, found him in a closet upstairs, the door got shut with him in. I was so worried!

5 hours for you, 5 minutes for kitty. :-)))) I'm sure you were a wreck, meantime. Glad it ended well.

Some years ago my cat went missing for three days! I was frantic, posted fliers, told neighbors, walked the streets calling for him. As I was leaving the house one day I just happened to glance up and toward my neighbor's garage, and there he was meowing in the garage window!! Poor guy.

I'm so glad your story has a happy ending. I would be frantic if either of our two got out of the house. They are strictly house cats.

Oh my goodness. So glad for you. My cat is strictly a house cat too.

I had an outside cat (inherited from neighbors) and one night when I came home from being out, unbeknownst to me, when I opened the car door, she had climbed into the back seat. I closed the door, went in the house, to bed and woke up the next morning. When I went out to my car, there she was!!! She was not happy and needless to say, my car wasn't very happy either for becoming her litter box!! Eeeww. Poor girl. Entirely my fault. :(

I'm glad, too, that your found your kitty!

My indoor cat Pretty went missing upon arrival of a visitor. Even after the visitor left, Pretty was no where to be found in the house. I searched every one of her usual hiding places (including up inside the old kitchen stove), nooks and crannies. Then I thought perhaps she slipped outside somehow. I was in tears by 3am. when I finally decided to go to bed. As soon as I was settled in bed, here comes the pit-a-pat of kitty paws across the floor and Pretty jumps up beside me on the bed. I'll never know where she was hidden all that time.

Once after many hours of searching, I found here curled up on the reverse side of one of the heavy velvet curtains in the library where it pools on the floor. Glad I found her, but oh the cat hair on dark green velvet.

Tony the Tiger loves to work on doors. Bathroom doors in particular, seeing paws under them while on the toilet is interesting.

The other morning when I went out for the morning paper, I failed to completely close the front door. It took Tony just long enough for me to get the paper and get back on the porch and he went flying around the corner toward the back yard. It was dark and I was not ready (mentally) to go out on a search for him. Calling his name is fruitless, I thought about opening a can of tuna, but that seemed extreme.

I propped open the back door a bit and ate my cereal and read the paper. I went out with a flashlight and looked here and there and nothing. Oh well, one less mouth to feed.

About 90 minutes later, the missus saw him just outside the family room, just sitting there. I approached slowly and talked nicely to him. No lecture - if he won't respond to his name, then a lecture is useless.

He was hunkered down and kept meowing. I talked and eventually reached down to pick him up. He hates that! He really is not a cuddling sort of cat. But he allowed me to carry him back into the house. He did lots of clean-up before deciding that breakfast might not be a bad idea. Then a loooong nap.

My neighbors lost their cat under a reclining chair for 2 or 3 days. They had gone around the neighborhood looking for him. I'm surprised he wasn't fussing at them after a while.

Our cat is an indoor cat. She likes to hide in closets. I've come on her unexpectedly many times.

Mine got locked inside the linen closet for an entire day. I looked everywhere. I thought, he must have gotten outside, although, he never ever tries to go outside. When I walked back in the evening to sit at the computer for a while, I heard meowing. Tracked it down to linen closet and he was laying on top of a nice cuddly blanket. This morning, I shut the bathroom vanity door, and then heard a noise inside, and he had climbed in there. I pulled him out and made sure the door was shut tight.

One of mine years ago got locked in a pullout large drawer in the kitchen where the telephone books were kept. We had company and then I couldn't find her so I went up and down the town for hours. When I came in, I heard a meow and there she was in the closed drawer for 10 hours.

Years ago, we lost our tiny Burmese for three days. We looked everywhere for her and had just about given up when I was standing in the kitchen and heard a faint meow coming from above. I looked up and there were two yellow eyes peering down from the heater vent in the ceiling. Somehow she had gotten into the duct work. DH had to cut into the ductwork to get her out! Then there was the repair build. Fortunately the temps that time of year were mild enough that the heat was barely running -- probably just enough to keep her warm and comfortable apduring her ordeal. She was very hungry and thirsty though once she was rescued.

So glad your kitty drama had a happy ending!

My sister and I were traveling with her cat. He was on medication and couldn't be left with a sitter. We stayed in a pet friendly hotel, and one evening we left him in the room while we visited family. We came back to no cat. We looked high and low in the room, then she began walking the halls. We couldn't figure how he could get out, as nobody should have been in there. She was frantic.

There was a heavy desk in the room, with a vertical panel behind where your knees would go. I crawled under there, and the panel stopped with about a 4" gap at the top. Sure enough, he had managed to squeeze through that gap and was between the desk and the wall.
