Comments (62)mjsee, it appears you just can't let go of that color - isn't that a salmon colored sweater you are wearing in your beautiful gray bathroom? Salmon does flatter all skin tones. Your gray bathroom is really lovely. I guess my biggest regret, here at my everyday house, is caving in and not insisting on enlarging the shower stall in the MB. The stupid tile guy said, in front of DH: "oh, that would be expensive to change."!! Idiot - it would be more $$ for him but I guess he wasn't interested in the job. For my own use the shower stall is fine but it would be nice a smidgen larger. In our 2nd home I wish I wouldn't have picked that particular window tmt on the LR slider wall. I love all the other WT so one regret isn't bad. I've never admitted this to anyone. I don't want to bring their attention to something that they wouldn't notice - or care about - until I point it out. So as far as you know, I LOVE everything about the condo. Got it?...See MoreOT: any designers out there? what are my options?
Comments (11)thank you all so much. i am in the middle of such hell right now, i completely forgot i had posted this. marcy: thanks for posting that interesting article. i skimmed through but i'll go back and read again. latimore: i'd come across that NCIDQ website before, and then lost it so i really appreciate the post! breezy & boxer: it made me smile to read your kind words. i needed to "hear" that, so i owe you a debt of gratitude. thank you so, so much! growlery: you've given me some very good jumping points to research and it helps quite a bit to have it there in black and white. TY! and mamadadapaige: it doesn't really seem as if you've been gone, as your beautiful kitchen is constantly resurrected in posts, newly discovered by the ever-changing community we have here! i think a newbe just posted a shot of your kitchen only yesterday. did you mention your plans to switch careers? i seem to remember someone -but not sure if it was you. but i'm thrilled things are going so well for you! and of COURSE you're busy! why wouldn't you be? your kitchen is a GW favorite of mine. i wasn't really worried about getting work, but more concerned about fulfilling the requirements. i have a lot to think about and i'm a bit preoccupied while we try to finish up but i'm copying all the responses in this thread so i can come back and consider all the wonderful advice i've received. i was thinking about the economy and how it is all cyclical, and WILL come back eventually. i'm sort of throwing ideas back and forth and have been wanting to pick up some starter homes that need work in better areas -and give them ultra-fab face lifts. i didn't mention this to my dh since we obviously have invested a lot in our home. but we were discussing my options and he said i should look around for some real estate and fix them up "because," he says, "your pretty good at this stuff..." i couldn't believe, that man read my mind! i don't feel the timing is right for that yet, though. and i would still want to work toward accreditation of some kind ...do you see? i am so confused. no matter how grim things seem to me right now with the build, things will settle in time and i am sure i will figure it all out. it always happens. things always work out for me. a friend once told me i should give seminars on how to MAKE everything work out. it's laughable really. i just have faith. i just want to be sure and let you all know again, how much i really appreciate your kind words and for sharing your information and ideas. like i said, when things settle i'll go through your posts again and formulate a plan. i knew i would get some replies when i posted but i'm always amazed at how truly giving you all are....See MoreWouldn't this have scared you???
Comments (34)I do have a watchdog. :) She's Teddy The Wonder Dog and she can use her laser-eyes to vaporize bad guys. At night, you can see the laser-eyes real good (as shown in photo above). However, she was IN the car with me when I pulled into the driveway Friday afternoon. She did snarl and growl at the unidentified stranger in my back yard, so kudos to Teddy for that. Here's a picture of Teddy The Wonder Dog during daylight hours. She is a good little dog, but not too intimidating during the day. But she's a good barker and I think she'll be a good watch dog....See Moreany designer out there willing to answer some questions?
Comments (70)To answer (some of) your original question(s), whenever I've worked with a decorator they have 100% stood behind the products they've helped me obtain. Recently a headboard I had made (through the designer) was delivered in the wrong colorway: I refused delivery and called the designer. They immediately (& kindly) apologized and said they would take care of it. Within twenty-four hours they called me back to let me know it was being made again, in the correct colorway and as a rush order. She was professional, courteous (but not obsequious) and sounded genuinely kind and concerned about my (headboard) happiness. Then when the delivery company the designer had contracted gave me a hard time just this past Thursday (trying to charge me for a redelivery fee when delivering the new, correct headboard) I called her again. Again, she immediately did everything right, she said all the right things (sincerely apologized, told me I was right, said she would contact the delivery company, etc.), and took care of it. Like a few above respondents (and I'm sorry I didn't carefully read all of them -- you've a lot of supporters out there!) my experience has been that the designer / decorator is my advocate and has left me feeling cossetted. The only negative experience I had (and it was a doozy) was with an unethical kitchen designer and we contentiously parted ways. But she'd made it abundantly clear that if anything hit the fan I'd be left to clean it up. Alone. She'd be off getting her nails done and screwing her next client. We "lost" some money with her but when I think of the money we would have lost (and that I would have had to spend in therapy / legal fees!) had we continued our "relationship" with her it was well worth it. She happens to be our neighbor! Well, a few houses up the street but we see each other all the time, walking, driving, etc. So I totally understand the uncomfortable social situations! But at the end of the day, I really was right, and not just because "the customer is always right." I was right because I was consistent, forthright, genuine and HONEST. She, like your former designer, was inconsistent, evasive, disingenuous and a prevaricator. Period....See Moretozmo1
