Comments (4)The curling edges and the smoke smell have me worried. Again, these LVP floors with attached underlayments do NOT (normally) allow "extra". A laminate floor will allow more, a vinyl floor will not. I would get it in WRITING from the manufacturer that you are allowed to use more underlay/pad when laying their floor with "attached underlay" for warranty purposes. Check the installation instructions. If they MENTION MORE underlay/pad, then it is allowed. If there is NO MENTION of the underpad...then you are not allowed "more". You would need a "subfloor system" that is raised above the curled tiles. But then again most subfloor systems like to see things that are "well secured to the subfloor". Hopefully the tests will come back asbestos free so you can rip out the tiles and go with a properly prepared subfloor....See MoreReal Hardwood vs LVP
Comments (6)Reminds me of a previous builder interaction I had. There were a ton of things I was willing to downgrade so that I could upgrade others. Nadda. They don't know how to subtract, just add. I walked and bought spec. worked out fine for me. I will upgrade on my own with no pressure and games. Agree wood is preferable to vinyl 1000%. Can always sand/refinish if necessary years later....See MoreCoretec vs Flooret Modin (or any other LVP)
Comments (1)We recently installed (are still installing) the Flooret. I absolutely love it so far. It cleans very easily with a damp rag and does not show footprints unless the floor is dusty. You can buy samples online through the website but I ordered some through Amazon and they were delivered really quickly! Good luck!...See MoreLVP vs wood flooring
Comments (33)It looks like the Titan 5.5 is a 5.5mm (hence the name) thick vinyl plank. It has 12mil wear layer. That is 'ho-hum' when it comes to toughness. It is 'good enough' for residential (1-2 people in the home...NO pets) but it is not a very tough finish. Many home owners who have used a vinyl with 12mil wear layer have been disappointed. In today's flooring world, the consensus is: 20mil wear layer = light commercial = exactly what is needed for today's North American homeowner. The Titan 5.5 is not cheap. The cost is roughly the same as many CoreTec products. I'm sure your designer can find something in the same visual with a better wear layer....See MoreE. H.
