Glass Shower Walls in Vaulted Ceiling Bathroom with Glass On Top?
Comments (9)Having a glass ceiling as opposed to the fully enclosed shower shown (an insulated ceiling) is going to pose some challenges: the surface of the glass is going to act as a condenser and rain cold water. Maybe not a lot, and not noticeable with the shower running but if you stay inside to dry off you are going to get dripped with cool water. The other aspect is going to be maintenance of both the interior surface (which will dry with lots of waterspots unless you squeegee cold water down on yourself) and the outer surface which is going to be a dust collector that you are have to get on a ladder and reach over to clean. Its an interesting idea, but for me personally, the potential negatives would outweigh the potential pluses....See Moreback painted glass backsplash, anyone?
Comments (17)I have back painted glass in my kitchen and I could not be happier. How I ended up with the glass is a long story. back in '93 i had mirrored back splashes installed because the kitchen was so dark and I wanted to bounce around what ever light there was. loved them. in an effort to update my kitchen myself (painted cabinets, put in butcher block counter tops refinished myself etc) i was very perplexed as to how to update the backsplash. making an even longer story somewhat shorter I removed the mirrors (somehow they all came off in one piece) stripped them down (took a week) and painted them and reglued them. now i know no one is that insane but i seriously do not know why more people don't do this with clear glass. it is gorgeous! no one can believe how they look. and to clean them is a dream. As mentioned above cutting the holes for electric is exspensive. I think my guy said $35 per hole. And above the range would be an extra piece of glass but your hood would cover that seam or what if you put a seam on either side of cooktop and run the glass up higher there? any way good luck. if you decide to go this route you will love it. and as far as getting tired of the color its no different than picking tiles you can easily tire of. just saying....See MoreBack-painted glass shower
Comments (10)Tip for any shower surface - avoid using "bar" soap, use a liquid / gel soap. Bar soap has the addition of talc, used as the "binding agent" to enable it to be pressed into bars. It's the talc (combined with skin oil and skin cells) that makes "soap scum". Another plus is a water softener. All water has mineral content which also contributes to scum and streaking. Use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe down the surface after bathing as opposed to a squeegee. Never wash, or dry, microfiber cloths with any type of fabric softener or anti-cling sheets as that ruins their ability to absorb fluid....See MoreHas anyone used ADJUSTABLE Shower Glass Hinges?
Comments (2)Thank you for your response. If I had done things appropriately I wouldn't be asking this question. I assume there are people who have used these hinges (or they wouldn't be made and sold). I'm told now my issue isn't this hinge but instead that I can't have wall and glass mount hinges on the same door as they have different cam offsets and one or the other hinge would bind?...See Morejust_janni
