what color/finish on kitchen cabinets

Hello all

Doing a major kitchen remodel and have several items already picked out but am stuck on a few things. I have a toffee quarter sawn oak cabinet (craftman style) with black leather granite countertop. I have a 36 in copper apronfront farmhouse sink. The island is a step up 87" long with the leather granite (and probably higher counter a butcher block top but not definite....could be black granite too). The pendant lights I have chosen is a rust color and I LOVE these and want to keep them. The appliances are gray stainless with chrome stainless handles and the range hood is stainless chimney style.

My quandary is the color/finish is on the cabinet handles and faucet color. I have throughout my house a black matte finish to switch plates, light fixtures, door knobs etc. I had thought I wanted a square matte finish iron look to the cabinet hardware but now second guessing it as I am having difficulty with the faucet color.....any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

All of these things do not need to match. Switch plates are not a decorative item at all IMO and honestly without pictures we can only guess

I wouldn't worry about too much wood. The white kitchen will break that up, and you can perhaps use a different color than your floor. But I can understand being worried about the effects of water and scratches. You might also want to talk to the people on the kitchen forum about the durability of a wood counter. If not wood, I do think a gray Quartz top or a marble or marble-look alike would still look good with a waterfall edge. We have a modern styled kitchen (a mix of white and dark wood). Our island is wood with a plain white waterfall edge Quartz counter. Even though it sort of blends in with the rest of the white kitchen from afar, I don't regret it at all. It's pretty cool (and easy to clean) up close.

A good cabinetmaker can easily reproduce that level of quality with a biscuit or tenon joiner and clamping table with Pony pipe clamps. I can do those panels in my garage and install them on IKEA frameless cabinets(not used in your example but still simple) with Blum products and a Target Coatings finish or tung oil.Here. It's heart and sapwood American walnut. Rustic because of minimal grain matching. Very nice look and easy for a woodworker to do.

Retro-futurism made me think of Googie style. That was more an architectural trend than an interior design trend, but here's a thread about a vintage Googie-style kitchen. https://www.houzz.com/discussions/2673961/googie-kitchen-time-capsule I'm not suggesting orange laminate (unless that's your thing), but the use of radiused corners on the cabinets and counters is pretty cool. Unfortunately, searching for "Googie kitchen" turns up a lot of stuff that isn't Googie and very little that is.

I am unable to post pictures as the kitchen is in the middle of construction. I am a planner and like to purchase my items so they are ready for the contractor when he’s ready to install.
