Our subscription was a gift from DD#1. I would agree with you--B list movies at best. I so think a huge part of it is Hollywood is sooo out of touch with what people want to see. I wish we got the Hallmark Mystery's and movies channel. Would love to watch the Jessie Stone series!!

Our son got us a Roku 2 years ago and DH watches Netflix a lot. There is very little on it that I want to watch. I think the quality is there but I'm sick to death of the extreme level of violence on most of the selections. I did find a series that I watched all the way through but I had to watch it on my laptop, it was too historic for DH to care about.

I subscribed once to get the Longmire Series which net flix picked up, and I used it to binge watch breaking bad, but after that, I didn't find it useful so dropped it. I thought I could use it to watch Downton Abbey, but they would license the shows for only so long so they'd disappear on you. I figured I could do better/cheaper at the library.

Violence is a best seller.

If it's not violence, it's a sexual scene that has absolutely NOTHING to do with the rest of the movie. Not just a short scene, but the entire lovemaking all the way to orgasm. Really?

But, even network TV is now showing a woman forcing herself on another woman, or making love to another woman she picked up in a bar.

I loved the Longmire series, very upset that they also dropped it. Downton Abbey was awesome also. I've watched some of Breaking Bad, I thought it was eh. I just couldn't get past that the show seemed to idolize the guy, and a lot of fans certainly did. He was a freaking drug dealer, period. I'm pretty sure i'm in the minority on that opinion, lol, oh well.

I’m bored with Netflix too. Too many of their own programs. Seems like so much violence, weird themes. Not cancelling though.

I think Downton Abbey is still on Amazon. BTW when I first tried to cancel they offered to drop the price to 7.99 but it isn't even worth that to me.

I also cancelled my subscription to Netflix last week. I don't care for the movies that Netflix has produced. It seems like there are more of those type than movies you see in the theater.

DD gifted me with Roku, and I do enjoy the British offerings. Then another DD put me on her Netflix! I spend more time looking at the offerings than actually watching the show. I usually just grab my book and go to bed.

I like mostly all of the British shows and movies, watch foreign films with cc on. I just finished watching the Brit series SELLING HOUSES.

PBS Passport is a good option for some who enjoy Downton Abbey and Brit shows.

Acorn is great for BritTV. HULU also has many Brit offerings.

I'm also tired of the violence that permeates so many shows.

I get frustrated trying to find something to watch when I browse Netflix. My kids use it though.

I never have any luck just browsing Netflix (although I do like some of their original offerings, like Frankie and Grace and Orange is the New Black).

I feel the same way about HBO. While some shows are good there are so many reruns all week long and ancient movies being shown. ET for the last week? I was given four months by FIOS and would not pay for this

I am actually getting Netflix discs by mail because they offer some shows that way that you cannot get via their streaming service.

I recently signed up for AcornTv and I am enjoying it. lilacinjust, thanks for mentioning BritBox. I had never heard of it before but I may sign up for a free trial.

I haven’t used Netflix for a really long time because I don’t like their interface and how it only presents shows that are based on something else that I’ve watched. I much prefer to have an entire portfolio available to me so I can see what I want without being tracked.

For those who like Movies and have a Roku, REDBOX just came out with an app. I haven’t tried it yet, but the next time I want to see something specific I’m going to give it a try.

I love Netflix! Unfortunately, we only have it on one TV and that one is safely cocooned in the armoire while we do living room repairs & paint. At the rate things are moving along, may be another month before we can watch it again.

I'd occasionally like to see something on HBO or Showtime, but not willing to pay the extra charge each month. $7.99 for Netflix is a bargain in comparison.

I too love Netflix! My husband is usually asleep by 8:30pm so I sit each night processing photos I've taken and check out all the different streaming options until I find something interesting. Right now I'm watching a series called Imposters. I also watch a ton of travel and nature documentaries. I am considering dumping the DVD in the mail portion though as the selection their leaves something to be desired. Also am an Amazon Prime member so often watch whatever they are offering.

i love netflix!! finishing "house of cards" and started "the crown"... watched 'orange is the new black" and binge watch shows that i missed... love watching "the office" when i need a laugh...

We got a month's free subscription with our new TV. We watched all of this season's The Crown and loved it. But we did not watch anything else as I recall and let the free period lapse. I highly recommend The Crown.

When we got a 4K tv, we changed to Netflix 4k so that I could see something in 4K. I binge watch too much and Netlix makes it easy - Frankie and Grace, the Crown, Stranger Things, Series of Unfortunate Events, Travelers, West Wing, re-watching the Sherlock series, etc. But I find good movies too - just watched Walt before Mickey and I loved Jane Fonda/Robert Redford Our Souls at Night and Kathy Bates in The Great Gilly Hopkins and lots of others. While I agree the latest block busters aren't there (they to have Dr. Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy), I do find plenty of offerings to "waste my time" and have to give serious thought to giving up HBO, etc.

I'm considering cancelling our cable and getting an Android box. My son has one and says he can watch everything and anything. He said I can even watch Another World from day one! I still need to go to his house to see how it works. I told my husband we can still watch the odd hockey game because you can watch them online and my tv is a smart tv with a web browser so we wouldn't miss anything. Until I see how the android box works, I'm sticking with cable. That'll save us quite a bit of money every month. My internet contract expires in August and while I'll stick with the same provider, I'm going back to cheap internet. I pay more and don't see a difference.

Netflix is always changing the interface. My wife watches a lot of British TV. Netflix offerings we've enjoyed include: Bloodline, Ozark, Atypical, American Vandal, The Keepers. Offspring, City of God, The Most Beautiful Hands of Delhi, Omar, to name a few.
