I agree with DavidR, so many historic houses being torn down to put up ultra modern houses. But there is a reason, that is what people want now. It breaks my heart to see. I’m completely redoing my condo although everything is in great shape - it was built in the 90s and everything is a gawd awful pinkish marble art deco look. Do i feel guilty tearing out everything that works just fine but is just ugly? Yes. I don’t think pink tile will ever come back. I don’t think the parquet will either but I could live with it - just not oak. I’d pull them out personally.

What direction are you going with the house? You have windows with horizontal muntins which were very modern, but then someone added the batten shutters. Your front door is Mediterranean? A couple too many styles fro me so I would decide whether I wanted to be traditional or modern and design from there.

Thanks, Dave. Air is good, especially in low portion where those branches are and would be for a long time. Tree height managed with pruning. Unconcerned about space. First thought was of their taking energy, little now but more in future. Then I thought of future, that these could become productive, perhaps taking over for old ones that I might choose to remove.

Personally I would keep it. It is attractive, and I dislike my kitchen open to living and dining rooms. Kitchens create a mess when you are cooking, and guests, shouldnt have to look at it, unless of course, they are in the kitchen helping, but, its not a great look, when having a nice dinner in the dining room.
