Sorry, my pics are not quality, but I wanted to show off our cities (one of the 5 coldest in the world) river skating trail and warming huts. It was -2.2 F (-19 Celsius) and the trail was packed with walkers and skaters.

daisy - that's what I call Fortitude. What is the heat source in the warming hut - well I'm assuming there's one!

I went to look up ice wave and this is what I found:

Despite showing up on Twitter, in email forwards and old blog posts, these are not frozen ice waves in Lake Huron, from this season or any other. According to UpNorthLive.com, the photos get passed around winter after winter.

In fact, they were taken a decade ago in an entirely different hemisphere and aren’t waves at all.

Scientist Tony Travouillon shot the photographs while he was at the Dumont d’Urville Station in Antarctica in the early 2000s. According to the Weather Channel, the formations are actually blue icebergs.

So marylmi, is that actually your photo? Or something you pulled of the internet?

It was still a cool picture. At least we got the story on it now. It is still amazing.
