The Golden Chalice is the Solandra maxima which has a huge yellow bloom. There's also the less common Solandra longiflora, also called a Chalice vine, which has smaller, lighter flowers. I wish it wasn't a winter bloomer because I have to cut it back so much to move it into the greenhouse and lose most of the blooms. I always try to leave a few branches so I can enjoy at least a few blooms. I've been to the flower exhibits at Epcot a couple times. The last was in 2010, and I've never been super impressed. The plants are beautiful but I was expecting some more of the less common varieties. I've never been able to germinate Petrea volubilis seeds. I know they were fresh because I snatched them myself. lol Can you post a pic of your unknown plant here? BTW I am an absolute vine freak!

hi Should have made myself clearer lol YTT stands for Yesterday today and tomorrow common name for the shrub on the left because the flowers start dark purple fade to lavender then to white , The latin name is Brunfelsiia and I believe this is gradiflora rather than pauciflora but won't argue the point lol they are soo common here I forget that there are many names and types . The Queens wreath (vine > is Petra volubilis though I think this is racemosa due to differences in the flowers i'm not sure what regulates flowering but usually the grand show is in spring and then again in fall but never in winter. But this year ??? i blame it on global warming?? lol Anyway Out of the pic is the main trunk which has emtwined onto the trellis so would have to cut it to the ground to remove it.. Actually the trellis is being supported by the vine as its only in the groung on one side.lol Here is a pic of the one on the opposite side of the area which had the same problem BUT was able to remove most of it. I'm attempting a "weeping form " standard but still relies on the property fence for support as the trunk is not strong enough Thanks for the help gary

Hi It does grow like a vine Entwines onto a support and over time enlarges . Both of these were planted in the early eighties ,so very old . have been flattened a couple of timse by hurricanes plus the first had a shadehouse put on top of it by Jeanne and it was a couple of weeks before I got it dug out lol Both recovered but of course took some time I found the white form to be far less vigorous than the purple I gave that to a neighbor and she killed it lol have never seen the bicolored type Irma The light colored flower is a Brunfelsia of some sort I believe pauciflora as it winter flowers and has no aroma , These are often called Yesterday ,Today and Tomorrow because they change color over time . have never had any luck getting cuttings to root even with burying the canes while still attached I recently removed the trellis on the second because it had lifted it out of the ground so was holding up the trellis rather than reverse lol. Goal is to prune into a sprawling shrub?? Since I did some serious pruning I'm trying some in the compost bed seeems to have some magical properties as all kinds of things pop up in it , Remined me of the other common name "Sandpaper vine " now have cuts all over my hands . Someday I'll get smart enough to wear gloves?? lol gary
