Under-cabinet lighting can I do this after cabinet installation?
Comments (6)I used LED undercabinet strip lighting with an AC adapter plugged into a switched outlet. I fished the AC adapter cable through a small hole in the drywall near the outlet to another small hole at the bottom of the cabinet. The interconnect wires between the different LED strips were stapled along the underside of the cabinets so they wouldn't be seen. It worked out great. If you don't have a switched outlet, you could use a small 12v DC switch mounted under the cabinet near the first LED strip to turn them on or off. The LEDS are somewhat expensive, but low heat/power use and never need replacing. Comments (20)Great kitchen. Please don't let anyone talk you into painting those cabinets. You're fortunate to have the extra ceiling height and it does NOT look like a warehouse. I'd probably want the base -- kick wall -- of the peninsula/bar to be wood paneled or painted a darker color less likely to show shoe smudges but, as long as that's not a problem for you -- "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies. If you want to minimize the visual impact of the space above your cabinets, consider painting that wall the same color as the ceiling. If you want to utilize the space for storage (and not necessarily for kitchen items), take some measurements and see if you can find wooden boxes or foot lockers to set in a row above your cabinets; or not wood -- perhaps boxes made of a lighter material and painted to add your favorite color to your kitchen. If the blank space is truly irritating to you, then adding interesting knobs to the cabinet doors could help draw attention away from the blank wall above the cabinets. and/or You may have room for a small rolling cart or wheeled table (round or square) painted in your favorite bright color to create a different visual focal point -- preferably a table or cart you could roll outside on a porch or deck or patio when entertaining outside. Alternately, consider maximizing the impact of that open space -- it's just two short walls. Are there any local artists you would trust to paint a mural -- even just paint a blue sky, perhaps with a bit of puffy white clouds and/or even a rainbow there -- over which you could add a row of small "windows"?...See Morewhat's under old wallpaper? what do I do with it? drywall pros- help!
Comments (18)Yes, the blocked vent is in this bathroom. WHY WOULD ANYONE IN WISCONSIN TILE A BATHROOM AND COVER THE HEAT SOURCE? Good grief. I washed part of a wall and got the paste off easily with vinegar and tea tree oil, the mold appears about 50% lighter. With no trim, floor or fixtures, it seems a good time to just tear out the drywall. At least I can raise the light fixture to an appropriate height and get rid of the recessed t.p. holder too. Maybe add sound insulation. So much for a mini reno....See MoreWhich low voltage transformer do I need?
Comments (2)Need to find out where the led lights came from and ask them which transformer to use. Some are dc, others are 20k hz ac. Some use red wire as positive, others use red for negative. Rev a shelf has a small led that if you hook it up without their step-down block in line, it fries the led! Find out which brand of leds and contact them....See MoreS Patel
