How can I help fix the washed out and cold feel of my house? I loathe the whole pull color from an "inspiration piece" lecture. But you have to start buying things with color so those things can inform color choices for wall color and other decor pieces going forward. Every piece you buy doesn't have to be an investment piece that you keep forever. Don't worry about something being "timeless". Next time you're shopping, look for a colorful decor item - something, anything - that speaks to you and just buy it and take it home. Some of the best "inspiration pieces" I've seen weren't planned and a place had to be made for them in the space.

I couldn't write anything in the initial post. I just had trim installed in my coffered ceiling. I want to add some color...but not too much color. I thought I loved Sea Salt but it looks too bright and green on my wall. I'm thinking gray cashmere would be a good option but is it too gray?

Choosing between board and batten versus the lap siding is a personal decision. Uncertain of the style you're leaning towards, I would want to keep the facade the same color, especially with the wood elements. Also, not sure how much you're able to change and this might be a moot point, but the three front exterior doors are throwing things off to me. Since the middle door is given the most prominence with the gable, this logically reads as the main entrance and where guests would enter. The one on the left, seems out of place. I would want two windows mirroring what is to the right of the gabled door space. The perception of the very far right door is of a garage/utility door, except that it has sidelights and a transom. The little window next to the garage looks a bit squished. Just my 2 cents :)
