I'm still a little confused about the car in space thing. It's not orbiting the earth on it's own right? it's attached to a satellite or whatever? I see where the finish has already worn off, so that's a clue I guess.

No...it's orbiting on its own. They didn't launch a satellite...just the car with the mannequin as a test payload. Apparently they had rockets kick in that supposedly will send it on an orbit around the sun, but NASA is tracking it to see if that really happens. They suspect the orbit will take it 2 1/2 years to complete and it may be visible again in 5 years.

A new planet! LOL

The nature of those icicles indicate to me that you need more attic insulation and possible sealing of air leaks into the attic. You are in danger of ice dam damages along the outer edges of the roof with possible wetting of the wall.

I have already been through that experience with my house until I reroofed with larger anti-ice dam sheets plus having my interior vertical walls sealed and super insulation added to the attic. Result: No more icicles or wall damage. My gas bill dropped 15 % as measured by comparing Btu per degree- heating day. This measure is reasonably comparable. Comparing gross btu per winter month is not very good owing to the wide weather variation possible from one season to the next.

Good point, jem! Friends of ours had an ice dam issue in their house too... they said the water was literally pouring into the house.

jemdandy the icicles are caused by the heat cable that I have on the roof. Thanks for your concern.
