Any good places to buy or sell excess or unneeded tile?
Comments (15)Hi, came across this thread in looking for a place to sell our (still-in-box) leftover tile. I see the resounding statements that people don‘t want small quantity, and while I believe donating is a great way to go, I badly need to try and recoup some cost. When i was choosing tile for our project, if someone had been selling any quantity of the same tile (new in box) at discount, I would have been delighted to buy that and thereby reduce quantity I had to buy at full price. 40 boxes of tile is more expensive than 30 boxes boxes, particularly when dealing with high-end product! I feel like there *should* be a market for this; any help or tips woild be greatly appreciated! To the original poster, Corinne, I know this post is 4 years old, but is there a place we may see the list you compiled? thanks!...See MoreAnyone Sell on Facebook?
Comments (28)I've only sold one thing on market place. That was a car and it went off with no problems. I've heard there are a few of scams going on with any of the sell/buy sites. I had one lady that was leary of me when I wanted to purchase her 2 matching 1950s twin headboards for a bedroom set i already had. I've been looking and these headboards were a perfect match. She lived an hour away in the next state and I had to convince her that i was legit. It was nice weather and a beautiful day for a drive anyway. A few years back there was this lady on local FB groups that would cry poverty wanting kids items posted for sale for free or way below asking. Stating her little kids really wanted the item and gave a big sob story. She didn't even live close to the area. If you didn't budge on the price she would set up a pick up date and time then ghost you, just because she was a jerk. The items were never intended for her kids. She had an ongoing garage sale every weekend selling the items she got for free or cheap. She was called out and was banded from the local groups....See MoreFacebook Marketplace Question
Comments (45)We have better luck on Nextdoor when we were selling items and now that we're giving it away we only use ND. Generally those people are only in your local area, but I have a lady who likes my antiques and she comes up from Cameron (I'm in Raleigh) which is about an hour away. We met over ND. I've gotten used to the nonchalant responses on social media selling. Some are extremely presumptuous and others are ghosts after the first engagement. If I want to get rid of the item, even a free item, I have to be organized, responsive, and respectful. I found that when people put stuff on an online marketplace they're lazy about it. I don't realize that you have to respond to people, you have to answer questions, and you have to be available for it to be picked up or at least put it somewhere where it can be picked up when you're not home. Pretty easy things to do but I understand that some sellers are bad at it. When I post things, it's explicit with lots of pictures so there's no doubt what I'm trying to move. I try to look it up online to see if there's any provenance I can put with it if I don't have it myself. I've successfully moved to antique beds, antique radio, three antique dressers, antique tools, and lots of whatnots and whose it's. As for the artisanal bread not being selected at a food bank, they weren't going to buy it at the store in the first place. It being free wasn't going change their interest in it....See MoreFacebook marketplace
Comments (16)I thought if I donated it that it would get discarded because nobody would know what it was. I offer this kind of thing on the Buy Nothing group. Or if it's something so nice I really don't want to see it festering in a goodwill. It's also good for things you can't donate -- like roller shades, or an open box of expensive laundry detergent that I didn't like. The Buy Nothing group is restricted to your neighborhood. I only have to sift through a few takers, and I choose one and arrange a "porch pick up", where they just come and get it w/o any contact (I know it's a little antisocial but whatever). It's way more convenient than trying to sell something....See MoreOklaMoni
