I need some advice about doctors

I’m having concerns about my husband’s post-stroke care and am not sure how to handle them.

During our admittance, the hospital assigned us a neurosurgeon and cardiologist. The internal medicine physicians and neurologists were rotating doctors. It’s my understanding the internal medicine physicians would be the “team leaders” but we rarely saw them. The others hardly ever communicated with each other – only if they happen to come to our room at the same time. Towards the end of our stay the doctors were finger pointing at each other and telling us “they weren’t stroke experts”. An unnerving statement.

Nothing has changed since we’ve been released:

Me (calling the discharge nurse the day after being released): Should DH still take this Rx? He was on it before the stroke.
Discharge Nurse
: Not our call. Ask your primary care physician.
PCP
: Ask your neurosurgeon.
Neurosurgeon:
Ask your cardiologist.
Cardiologist:
We didn’t originally prescribe it. Ask your PCP.

I now realize we should have been transferred to another hospital that specializes in strokes but that ship has sailed. I have lost confidence in my healthcare team and need to be DH’s advocate.

How would you handle this?
