Comments (4)Cerama Bryte which I bought at Home Depot did a great job cleaning the black glass cooktop that was here when we bought the house. I thought I'd never be able to get it clean (the previous owners didn't have the word "clean" in their vocabulary) but the Cerama Bryte got the cooktop looking like new after about six cleanings. Now I use it weekly, or more often, and am very pleased. I got it at Home Depot, 28oz. for about $7, but have used it for a year and still have about 2/3 of a bottle left....See Moreshattered glass top stove-now what???
Comments (8)Hi David-Please don't add to my stress. Floors are going in right now. Custom cabs are bing installed on Tues and Wed. Friday the granite template is happening. I really would have preferred the Elux induction slide in but I've been out of work for 15 months until 2 weeks ago and my gc left me holding the bag the day before that. To do a cook top and wall stove would require getting the electrician to do more wiring and additional cabinet work and my budget, time, and my nerves can't take much more so I've decided to reel it in. I'm in kitchen reno hell with a very unhappy hubby. I just need this kitchen to be done. Thank you for your understanding....See MoreHow do you clean your glass top stove ?
Comments (25)(Probably) twenty-year-old stove (at least) with the windy heating units that was here in step-aunt's time prior to her death 16 years ago. One more of life's problems that I've avoided. They claim that the new units are so much more efficient ... that they save such a large amount of power, which is so much better for the environment. But ... to build the new stove ... have they factored in the amount needed to dig out ore ... transport it to the smelter (which is an energy-hog) ... then to roll it, haul it to where they shape it, then add the plastic parts (also mostly sourced from scarce petroleum), plus all of the costs of sourcing, manufacture, shipping, etc. of the electronics, to the stove assembly point ... then haul the whole thing to the store ... and again to your house? Shouldn't part of that cost be deducted from the savings that the improved unit produces, in that it's to replace a unit that was working well, before it was necessary? Have they factored in that a portion of that cost is unnecessary, were one to have used the older machine to the end of its useful life, so should be charged against the energy saving produced by the lower usage by the newer product. Apart from part of the cost of hauling the old, inefficient unit to the recyclers, sorting or pulling it apart and reprocessing ... earlier than would have been necessary, thus perhaps should be also partly claimed against the environmental costs of doing it before it was necessary? Also what was the average working life of the earlier units ... ... and what is expected to be the average working life of the new ones? How about dividing the original cost by the number of years of expected use, then adding the expected annual savings in power usage, to find the real cost per year? Or ... are they mainly hungering for the profit to be realized on the sale of the new stove? ole joyful...See More- 8 years agolast modified: 8 years ago
