metal roof, snow on deck, gutter question
Comments (6)"1. How can snow shedding off the roof damage the sliding glass doors?" Given the right weather, snow can turn to ice. On our 4 year old house with a regular ole shingle roof, at least once a winter, a big chunk of 1/4 moon shaped ice slides off our roof and thankfully crashes in the yard. 1/4 moon shaped because it is what built up on the upside of our furnace flue. Metal grates? I have only heard of them when the surface is level to the ground. They are for drainage. You say "deck" so I am confused. It sounds like the house has many different roofing materials. Having lived with snow my entire life I would say no, but I don't live in California and your house inspector said it was ok. Heck, I also never heard of plastic gutters, here they are either metal or if you have a historic home they might be wood....See MoreFor Metal aluminum color roof, gutter color question. Comments (7)Honestly, I think it is all personal preference. When I had to make this decision recently, I read either match the roof color or the house color. Lots of people said to match the downspout to the house color. But I just installed bronze gutters and downspouts against white siding and I love the contrast. It helped break it up. Our shingles are a gray/brown and two accent metal roofs are bronze....See MoreGutter + Soffit + Fascia Color for Century Home?
Comments (4)I hired a carpenter to make wooden storms for a rental property (because I wanted to replicate the mid century muntin pattern of the windows). Then I took them to a glass shop for the glass, and then I painted them. They were not too expensive, and if you use a rot-resistant wood (like cedar or Douglas fir) and maintain the paint, they should last for a long time. You could even make them yourself if you are at all handy....See MoreFascia/soffit/gutter color for this siding and roof?
Comments (4)It’s lap siding and new construction windows so no trim. I have been admiring Nordic houses lately so was thinking about all in one color. i just love that. the other side has a white porch roof and am screening in the porch and could do that in white so the white windows wouldn‘t be the only white. The teal is just a little brighter than i wanted but it’s what i could find. love the yellow door idea....See MoreVirgil Carter Fine Art
