Blinds vs Roman Shades vs Cellular Shades
Comments (12)I have roman shades in the bedroom. They are mostly decorative and a bit of a nuisance to open and close. I do close them at night, but have to fuss with the folds every morning when pulling them up. Light leaks in around the edges. I guess there are various kinds of roman shades. Mine are zero fuss and fit close to the edges and are cordless, top-down bottom-up. Even without the side panels mine are close to the edge in an inside mount. measured to fit. You may be referring to more designer custom fabric-y style roman shades???...See Morequestion about roman shades
Comments (4)hmmm... it does go against my grain too- that's why i'm hesitating. but, after having just a 9" valance since we've been in the house, i think i'm ready for a bit more on the doors all the time... (i picture having 12-15" of shade down all the time...) hadn't thought about cornices/shades- i'll have to figure out how much clearance i have-might not be an option... glad to hear you've done it browynsmom!! it would be the same look then as my other kitchen windows which appeals to me... i have alittle more thinking to do......See MoreRoman shade question
Comments (6)I plan to leave the shades up most of the time but when it’s dark outside and there are no leaves on the trees, there’s a direct view and I would want the privacy. Also, the house is shaded by trees so much of the time that I want to leave as much window uncovered as possible during the day to add light. I was thinking of a linen fabric in a natural shade with a grosgrain ribbon edging. Open to other ideas....See MoreRoman Shade Outside Mount measuring questions
Comments (12)I agree with Sabrina! It will look at lot better with the one continuous piece across the top. If you really want the function of the two shades tho you could do a split headrail (1 headrail with 2 operable shades within it) and have the valance go all the way across. For outside mount it is always ideal to have it end at the edge of the trim. Otherwise it could look out of proportion and not very custom finished....See Moredough71
