"Fluff" post: fuzzy toilet lid covers
Comments (69)Back in my first years on my own I tried the set but the lid would never stay up with it on there and after cleaning the toilet decided that was a mistake to buy that set so out it went. Bought one of the soft toilet seats and they were really nice for cold winter days when I had the heat down a bit lower. Now, it doesn't bother me and I keep the heat higher than in those days now that I'm older. I figure a few more therms of gas are no big deal compared to my comfort. I worked and saved, now it's time to enjoy it. I like seeing the old radiators. There's something comforting about them. I just wouldn't want it for my heat source because around here, steam heat is hideously expensive. I like seeing some of the covers people build for radiators. I guess I find it amusing how some get so worked up over a litter box, most of whom have had diaper pails sitting around, changed their kids on all the furniture, many including the kitchen table, and worry about germs. To each their own I guess!...See More"Fluff" post: describe your shower curtain
Comments (26)Glass door on separate shower in master bath, no shower in DD's old bath - just an antique footed tub with a hand shower. Downstairs tube has a shower and it has a cloth liner and the shower curtain is a white pique one from Matouk. I like very simple for shower curtains and it is always folded back unless drying. A curtain across the tub reminds me of Psycho!...See More"Fluff post": do you make coffee at home? Provide details ...
Comments (74)A first thing in the morning infusion of caffeine is a lifeline for me!! My day doesn't get started until I have a mug of coffee in hand. I use a French press and have for years - it is quick, efficient and makes IMO the best coffee ever. My sister insists on her fancy-schmancy Italian espresso maker for her morning latte or cappuchino, but I prefer mine straight and black - no flavors ever........unless it is a dessert type, after dinner coffee drink with liquor :-) Living in the land of Starbucks and great coffee in general, good beans are not hard to find and I usually get bulk beans from one or more different outlets. Always dark roast. I prefer a coarse grind for the French press, so I get a pound a week and grind them onsite. I've yet to find a good home grinder that will produce the proper texture. And they don't lose any flavor that I can notice by grinding them and between the air tight canister and how little time they hang around, they remain fresh. I don't steep the French press long - mine actually came with a little egg-timer like device to time it. But I make it strong to begin with so long steeping is not necessary. And that first cup in the morning is like the nectar of the gods!! I could go without a lot of things in my life but coffee is not one of them!...See MoreFluff post: do you use those Renuzit or Glade air freshener solids?
Comments (59)a whole lot of scented things bother me - physically. my sister uses the plug in scent things. everything she sends to me smells like it. If it's clothes, i have to wash them or hang them outside for several days. even non cloth things smell like it. I can't use (or be around where it is used) Windex or Lysol. I had to walk right back out of Target one day - as I walked in, I passed a check out lane where the clerk was cleaning her counter with Windex. I felt it instantly and left. I use to wear White Diamonds, then one day, I couldn't anymore - or even be around those who do. A girl in the office started using it and we had to ask her not to anymore at work. If caused my throat to close up. As did one of those 'hang in the car' things. I bought one for my car (yrs ago) with a coconut scent (which I like) but when I sat in my car reading the newspaper (outside the laundromat), my throat started closing up - it kept getting worse... and I was about to panic when i saw that thing (new) hanging on the mirror. Being the only thing new to me and my car, I took it off and threw it outside the car and left my car door open. It took a few minutes, but my throat began to release and I was ok. Never again! I buy scent free Kleenex (puffs) and detergent (Arm and Hammer). When i went to the laundromat, I had to use scent free dryer sheets - sometimes they were hard to find in stores around me. I'm very careful with cleaners, lotions, soaps, shampoo etc. In a way, it's a really a sad thing to be afflicted with... in another way, it's really a warning to us... a red flag to pay close attention to....See More
