All colors of plastic, some with the skinny strap holders. Also, have a few wire hangers and wooden pant hangers. If someone looks in my closet, I'll have more embarrassing things to worry about than the type of hangers :-) I use my walk-in for aquarium and pet supplies, extra pet toys and all of those picture frames that I hoard :-)

They are all plastic, but the heavy plastic not the flimsy ones..also there's the ones with clips that I really like expecially for skirts. I have a huge amount of plastic hangers, of various style, quality, and color, amassed by my late wife. I it was my decision to do over I'd probably do the same but in lesser amounts LOL.

I have the same hangers as Scott in all different colors. I match the color of the clothing with the hanger colors, blue clothing on blue hangers, green on green, white on white and so on. I have a few heavy duty wood hangers that I use for heavy coats.

I have a lot of different colored plastic ones. My husband hates the sort that have notches on them so I won't use those for his shirts. He likes to just be able to rip his shirt off the hanger and those notches get in the way...HAHA! I use wooden ones for coats and I have some that are plastic with rubber on the tops so shirts don't fall off.

The guys in this house have white plastic hangers - in a minor fit of OCD earlier this year, I dumped all hangers that weren't white. In my closet, however, I have the felted hangers and skirt hangers. I tried to give the guys these hangers, but they broke them within a day - so they have been consigned to plastic.

At the "woodhouse" my grandkids name for a primary residence, I use wood and clear plastic hangers. My hsband prefers the plastic one like Scott. At the riverhouse, our second home, I use plastic hangers like Scott but mostly white or navy blue.

I have the clear plastic hangers. I like the clatter of them and the notches on them work well for my camisoles. Got rid of the heavy wooden ones I used to have.

I've seen a lot of fluffy threads at the KT, but this one is right up there with the fluffiest. I have plastic hangers, but I don't know what color they are. I try not to look at them. LOL

My favorite hangers are made of wood. Next in line are the clear plastic ones with a metal top (the crook?) that you can rotate.

I prefer padded hangers. No, mine do NOT all match -- they've been acquired over about 50 years!

I actually prefer plastic hangers over any other types but my wardrobe is very very casual. We have a few heavy duty wooden coat hangers for coats. Like Mommy Dearest I detest wire hangers. Pretty useless these day, can't even use them to break into cars any longer. ;-)

It may be a fluff subject but it's one I care about! I use Joy Mangano's original felted hangers (have always thought of them as velveted); mine are in "camel" color. I love them. Nothing slips off and things just look more tidy. Or maybe I am more neat for having them. Am trying to imagine how anyone could break this kind of hanger; JM's don't break.

Dear husband kept using up all the nice hangers (wood or plastic). I got rid of all the cheap wire, bought him a bunch of black hangers, and pink plastic hangers for me. "My" hangers still migrated to his closet! Now that we're both retired, most of our shirts are of the folding, no-button variety -- and hangers are no longer an issue.

I have a real hodge podge of hangers. Have been slowly replacing all the odds and ends with plastic, (like Scot's) preferably those with the notches. Mostly white, a few light blue, a few kind of a silvery color. No green, ever! No pink. I used to like the metal hangers for the T's with higher necklines, but they get so bent out of shape so easily, I'm replacing them with plastic. Plastic without notches for those T's, with notches or something on them for the more scoop-necked tops. There are a few of the wooden pants hangers, for slacks. I also have some very old wooden hangers, they were my mother's. But I don't use them, not sure why.

My wardrobe is extremely casual, all pull-over tops, the "folding no-button" variety, but I prefer to hang them. Only the "around the house only" tank tops are folded in drawers.

Oh, this made me chuckle! ALL of our hangers are white--no other color allowed. Not even ivory! I guess that makes me a little bit OCD?? I'll admit this drives my sweet husband crazy.

I use plastic hangers because, overall, they have held up better than every other kind. I colorcode. Mine are white and so are my daughter's. One son has blue and the other green from when they shared a closet. Dh has all the different colors I used to have before I colorcoded. When I have hangers laying around the house, I know who left them there.

My MIL gave me padded satin hangers early in our marriage and I've added more -- all white or pastel. DH has wood hangers for suits and jackets. We have wire hangers in our closets, too, along with metal hangers with clips for pants and skirts.

Yes, coat closets are best with thick wood hangers.. Looks like no-one has wire hangers anymore. DH uses a trouser trolley for pants and he likes it fine. I use wooden pants hangers. I swear, he would use wire if they were in there. Gotta watch him every minute!

Oh yeah, the wire ones that I get from the cleaners whenever I get my suits back. I have them, one of these days I will use them to break into cars in our community. Won't that be fun.

The missus used to pull polo shirts from the dryer directly to hangers. I ended up with thingys sticking up at the shoulders. Now, I do my own stuff and shirts are placed flat on the bed until they are ready to be hung, no more thingys. There are those, I assume, who would never put polo shirts on hangers, but fold them neatly and put them into drawers. I have more room in the closet than space in the drawers.

This is a light-hearted thread about clothes hangers. No one here needs lessons on what constitutes a personal opinion and what is a binding proclamation. It is clear to most of us, in my opinion.

Do readers always understand what someone has said, always misunderstand, or sometimes one way and sometimes the other? Are tongue-in-cheek comments frequent or infrequent in this forum? Are comments (in general) never blindingly obvious, always blindingly obvious, or a mix? If a comment is blindingly obvious to anyone but not to everyone, does that automatically end the conversation? Does everyone always agree, never agree, or does it depend on the who and what? Do some people always agree with certain individuals, always disagree with certain others, or is it a mix? Are misunderstandings or misdirections more common in person or in written communications?

Given the path this thread has taken perhaps I should make something clear. I do not have a history of roaming the streets, breaking into vehicles with wire coat hanger in hand.

I have mostly white plastic hangers, of different types. I also have padded hangers for certain clothes. I would love to have everything on matching hangers but my bank account thinks the thousands it would cost is frivolous.

I don't use hangers. My clothes are suspended in the air by magic.

I have a kid....adult....who has moved back home and he seems to think it is magic. He is such a good kid but darn his clothes hanging or folding abilities are either non existent or he fakes being unable well.

Plastic and mostly white. I bought DD the ones from black ones from Costco. I don't like them for myself but DD likes them because they are uniform.

Our adult son lives with us. I do not do, fold or otherwise touch his laundry! I also don't look. :) We use plastic in multiple colours. We are very casual though so our clothes mostly are as well. We fold most and hang the rest in a cedar lined closet.

Mine are mostly white plastic...some blue thrown in. A few mauve-ish. Don't know where they came from. Would LOVE to have all matching ones. Maybe some day.

I'm late to the party, but all my hangars are the heavier white plastic.

DH has all wooden hangars in his closets; they have a hanging bar for slacks/jeans and wider "arms" for his shirts.

He got rather territorial when I took a few of "his" hangars for my jackets and coats. I pointed out he still had extras; I had bought an extra dozen.
