AVG Security took over Google home page
Comments (20)It appears that it is gone. I used the Remover instructions you gave me RC on the Google home page and never saw AVG when I clicked on the the AVG toolbar options/advance. Nor did I see it in IE. The only option for search providers was Google listed as default/enabled/not available. I saw it in Firefox and removed it. I have only uploaded that program a few months back but never used it. I removed the Google toolbar on the culprit Google home page that was with the AVG toolbar and the AVG disappeared. Then I brought back Google. I rebooted and it is still gone and not listed as a program.I am holding my breath as it is a backward way of following the directions though I tried carefully to do that. grandms.Your thought about the company called "On call 25/8" has been running through my mind since they came out and created a pw to get into Windows last week. They had my computer a couple of months ago when I couldn't find a graphic device and did a thorough look. There was something wrong about the guys paying forward pitch that bothered me. For $750 I could get so many hours of future help in my home. He also would take care of installing my new router and Apple apps. There are other On Call 25/8 companies and wonder if anyone has heard of them. Raven thanks again for standing by as I made my way through these instructions. I hope this is the end. This afternoon I read all the online complaints about AVG - some going back 3 years. I have an external back up device that may have AVG on it now.Maybe I should throw it away My feeling is that computers are not here to stay. Also, glad to see that the Facebook IPO fell on its face at least at first offering. So many demons. Comments (6)I would not use that program, I would do as stated and install the free malwarebytes, update it and run a full scan and let it clean what it finds. usually when a program is not allowed to run on a pc and it is a security program it is because there is an infection on the pc which prevents them from running so it will not be detected. I would add malwarebytes to the pc you say will not run superantispyware also. If you are unable to run these programs also that is confirmation you have an infection stopping the security programs. If that is the case you will need to go to a security support forum for some in depth assistance. Once you have done the malwarebytes scan and let it clean please come back and inform us of the results, posting the log would be helpful. the game itself may contain the infection which is why it won't allow you to remove it....See MoreRavencajun: Windows Security/AVG conflict
Comments (9)wait you don't have to take those off just turn them off while you try to get AVG to install and work. They are all fine good programs and should be on the pc. I would bet some of Norton may still be hanging in there causing the problem, so definitely use their removal tool for the version of Norton that she had that should clear up most of it. then go to right click start then explore in the tree> program files see if there is still a folder for Norton if so delete the entire Norton folder, anything you see labeled Norton or Symantec should go. You did not do anything wrong sometimes things just have conflicts and especially with Norton. So do the removal of that then just turn off those programs and try AVG again. The reason I suggest using the method in the AVG faq is that it keeps it from installing some of the extras that have caused problems on some pcs. It is a much slimmer version. You are doing a good deed! You are helping someone ,that is always a good thing. As I said it may require doing an add remove on AVG then reinstalling it, that is why it should be disconnected from the internet since you will be with out protection while AVG is not working. If AVG continues to fail you could try AVAST free, I use it on one of my pcs. avast! 4 Home Edition - FREE antivirus the install and user guide are on that same page off to the left.
