Merry, I read Michael Jenkins' A House in Flanders several years ago . . . and may have recommend it here. Well worth reading with his descriptions of the Aunts, the way of life and the surroundings. Although we think of Flanders as being in Belgium, in fact the 'house' was over the border in France. I was surprised that MJ was able to speak such good French, remembering what French lessons were like in England! I believe he went on to become a diplomat. yoyo, sorry I can't help you with your title. Was the book set in the US?

I painted the bookcases in the study the same color as the walls, at the suggestion of my housepainter (who was a genius with color matching and contrast). It worked out well; what you notice are the books, not the very plain shelves.

thank you. it certainly isn't clear about how to do that. I have posted on one other site and I'm looking at suggestions some people with the same problem... only one seems to have had theirs restored by deleting the program and uploading it again. I'm reluctant to try that because at least at this point I have a history that I can draw upon
